MARRIAGE took place on Sept 21st `07 at the Church of the Assumption Moyvane of Ciara Moloney of Moyvane and Daniel O Connell of England, the ceremony was performed by Fr Lucid P.P. Moyvane. Bridesmaids were Niamh, Deirdre and Claire Moloney, Groomsman David O Connell; Best men were Tom Conway and Spencer Pritchett. The bride is daughter of Marian and John Moloney and he grooms parents are Emily and Daniel O Connell.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mickey Liston the story teller from Knocknagorna who celebrated his 80th birthday recetly.

Congratulations also to the Moyvane Girls Under 14 GAA team who won the North Kerry Plate Final, they also reached three finals thi year.

BEST Wishes to Eileen Woulfe of Athea who is on a seven day walk in Yucatan in aid of cystic fibrosis.

EXTRAORDINARY People: G K Chesterton is reported to have said that editors could fill half their papers for free, if only they could keep their readers angry enough; Paul Cullen died aged 99 years in Australia on Sept 19th 2007, he was a famous soldier, a book on his life called  �Citizen and Soldier� life of Major General Paul Cullen was published in 2005; A book called The Mascot was recently published in Australia and details how Alex Kurzen at the age of five witnessed the Nazi kill his family in 1941 and how he became a mascot for the SS for the rest of the war; Marcel Marceau the famous mime artist died aged 84 years on Sept 22nd `07, his father died in Auschwitz. Conference on the Martyrs of Spanish Civil War  will be held in Rome on October 5th `07; Feast of St Francis is on October 4th, he had respect for all of Gods creatures; Sr. Enrica Rosanna oversees all things in relation to catholic religious communities in the Vatican since 2004;

AMBASSADOR: Michael Collins is the new Irish Ambassador to Washington.

DEATH took place on Sept 20th `07 of Norma Finucane, of Urlee, she is survived by her father Mick Finucane, brothers Paddy, Dan, Mike and Bill sisters Betty, Jacqueline, and Annette she was laid to rest on Sunday September 23rd `07 at Gale Cemetery following Requiem Mass at St Teresa�s Church Ballydonoghue.

DEATH took place on September 30th `07 of Joan Ahern, nee McElligott of Beale Hill and formally of Coolaclarig, her husband John Francis Ahern, sons Jerry, John, Paddy and Dan, daughters Marie, Noreen and Margaret survives her. Following Requiem Mass at Ballybunion Church on Wednesday Oct 3rd celebrated by Fr Hegarty, Canon Linnane and Fr John Kennelly Joan Ahern was laid to rest at Kilconly Churchyard. Joan was a sister of the late Mary Enright of Knockanure Village. Joan Ahern was born 85 years ago to Jack McElligott of Coolaclarig and Nora Cantillon of Causeway. Her siblings were Mary, John, Nora, Peg and Paddy. Both Joan Ahern and Gerald Mulvihill went to the same school and died on the same day.

Death took place on September 30th `07 of Gerald Mulvihill of Shronowen, Listowel. He is survived by his wife Kathleen Hanrahan a native of Kilbaha, sons Fr Eamon, Mike, Dan, and Joseph and daughters Mary and Sheila. Gerald Mulvihill was laid to rest following Requiem Mass for Gerald Mulvihill was celebrated at Ballydonoghue Church by his son Fr Eamon, Fr Lawlor, Fr Nolan and about 30 priests. Gerald was born in February 82 years ago to Ned Mulvihill of Shronowen and Julia O Sullivan of Lixnaw, his siblings were Fr Dan, Michael, Denis and Sr. Mercedes in Thurles. Gerald�s family could count over 50 relations who worked in the religious life, in the early part of the last century Bishop Cunningham took several cousins including the Mulvihill�s to Concordia, Kansas to work in his diocese.

NEW Moon is on Oct 11th; The finding of the largest star known so far was announced on October 7th 1997 it is 25,000 light-years from Earth and was obscured from view by a dust cloud in the Milky Way; The weather here is nice and warm with many days dry, in the South Island in NZ, it is reported that thy are getting rough spring weather; plums, sloes and blackberries are diseased this year, they are plentiful but inedible; we have a bumper crop of apples and haws in perfect condition.



SCHOOLS: Knockanure National School Junior Infants class and their new Principal Julienne Donegan had their picture in last weeks Kerryman, the class includes Gavin O Connor, Ollie Moran, Niamh McAuliffe, Ryan Large and Cian Murphy. All the children in the school are participating in the Departments programme that encourages the eating of fresh whole food.



Murhur pupils photo was also in the Kerryman, included were Kevin Hudson, Joe Coulson, Martin Stack, Liam Corridan, Edward Moore, Kellie Sheehy, Charlene Mulvihill, and Ashley Sheehy. Junior Infants included David Sexton McEnery, Declan Sexton McEnery, Thomas Walsh, Micheal Fogarty, Sean Stackpoole, Kieran Swan, Eamon O Connor, Aobha Quinn, Holly Heffernan, Brid Stack, Dion Pierce and Claire Galvin. 



WEDDINGS: The marriage took place at the Irish College in Rome on September 3rd `07 of Sheila Windle of Leitrim West and John O Connell of Woodford, the bride is daughter of Michael and Kitty Windle and the grooms parents are Tom and Patsy O Connell.

The marriage took place in Moyvane Church on September 28th `07 of Johanna Leahy of Moyvane and Gerard Curtin of Clounmacon, Listowel, and the ceremony was performed by Fr Pat Moore and Fr John Lucid. Bridesmaids were Nora, Mary Band Trisha Leahy. Best man Derek Galvin and groomsmen were Denis and Tony Curtin. Flower girl Edel Quinn and Pageboy was Sean Curtin. The bride is a daughter of Pat and Mary Leahy and the groom is son of Anthony and Kitty Curtin.

Best wishes to Eileen and Danny Hannon of Listowel on their Golden Wedding Anniversary, which they celebrated recently.

Best Wishes to Sheila and John Ryan of Skehenerin who celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary at the Arms Hotel recently, Sheila and John ran a small shop at their home for many years.

CONGRATULATIONS to Micheal O Sullivan of Clieveragh who was recently elected Hon Lifetime President of Listowel and District Active Retirement Association, all his friends wish him well.

RETIREMENT: Garda Denis Holly of Moyvane has retired on August 11th 2007 after 35 years service with An Garda Siochana, he joined in May 1972 and served in Clonakilty, Bantry, Knocknagree, Stradbally, and Denis served 29 years at Kilmallock. He is married to Kay O Connor of Duagh and they have children Dominic and Marian.

Congratulations to Mary Flaherty of Aughrim who recently celebrated her 90th birthday, she is daughter of the late Pat Stack of Aughrim and Margaret Flaherty of Gortdromagowna, and her siblings are Pat, Richard, John, Michael, Tim, Jim, Bridie, Hannah, Teresa and Nora.

WELL Done to Martin Stackpoole the youngest member of the Lixnaw team, he made the saves that won the County Championship for them against Kilmoyley recently, Martin has many relations in the Parish.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Glin group who raised E50,000 for Our Lady�s Hospital in Crumlin.

BOOK: The memories of Bertha Betty written by her between 1936 and`38 was re-launched at Seanchai on Friday night last, Bertha was born at the Square, Listowel to Ellen and Francis Creigh in the late 1900s, she died in 1949.

FULL MOON on October 26th, fine weather continues, many days are as mild as August; The Space Station was visible every night till Oct 22nd; Comet Loneos   will be visible from now on, Orion meteor shower was at its best last weekend. Global warmers will not tell you that Greenland had higher average temperatures in the 19 30s and `40s than at present, temperatures there rose rapidly in the 1920s.



SAD day in Listowel on Saturday last to see all the items from the convent being auctioned, many books and leaflets of an inspirational nature were sold for a pittance, they would be very useful for the library. Altar gate and church artefacts now scattered everywhere, think of all the loving care they received over the years, future generations will be deprived of visiting a very special church and of soaking in the atmosphere created by dedicated sisters since 1844.





COMMUNITY CENTRE News; Social centre for older people is starting on Monday 5th Nov in Knockanure Community Centre, it will take place from 11am to3.p.m, a hot meal will be provided, please let the centre know in time if you are not able o attend, as food may be wasted. Transport is provided by Kerry Flyer, to book transport phone 087 7476717, for further information contact 49438, 23905 or 49250 (or any committee member). A Halloween Party will be held in the Community Centre Knockanure on Wednesday 31st Oct from 7.30pm to 9.30 p.m. Cookery Classes will start on Monday 5th Nov if enough people are interested.

Radio Kerry recorded a programme at the Centre on Wednesday last, a glimpse of activities in the parish was recorded, later in the night at a meeting in the Centre locals were advised on and suggested activities for the coming months, over E 40,000 debt is still to be paid and people are asked to use the fine facilities provided by the hardworking committee and contribute a small fee to cover overheads. 



HAPPY retirement to Donal O Sullivan who was involved in the Listowel Community Centre for over 20 years, a special event was held recently at Seanchai to show appreciation for his great contribution as Community Centre manager, no doubt Donal will continue with his many other social activities. Donal is married to Kathleen Leahy of Knockanure.



CLIMATE Change for the better took place this October, under the Kyoto agreement Ireland must source 33% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020, the public sector is expected to achieve energy savings of 33% , 21% of cuts to meet Irelands obligations will be made outside the state.



BEST Wishes to Denise Riordan nee Mullane of Athea who became the first woman to manage a Bank of Ireland branch in Kerry, she is taking over from local man Pat Flavin who received promotion.

Congratulations to Claire Foley of Knocknasna who got 600 points in her Leaving Certificate she is daughter of Christina and John Foley.

MARRIAGE too place at St Mary�s Church Tarbert on Saturday October 20th `07 of Deirdre Stack of Steeple Road Tarbert and Iain Kennelly of Leitrim Middle, Moyvane, and the ceremony was performed by Fr Francis Nolan assisted by Fr John Lucid. Declan Kennelly was best man and groomsman was Michael Lynch. Maire and Aine Stack were bridesmaids. Deirdre is daughter of Patricia and Thomas Stack and Iain is son of Anne Maria McEnery and Timmy Kennelly of Leitrim Middle.
