Death: of Patsy Broderick of Clash on May 6th 04, Patsy was born at Coilagurteen son of Patsy Broderick and Ellen Hudson of Kilbaha, he is survived by his wife Margaret White children James, Betty and Mary, brothers Sean and Desmond, sister Maria, daughter Eileen, brothers Tom, Willie, Edward and Brendan predeceased Patsy who was laid to rest at Templeathea after Requiem Mass in St Bartholomew's Athea on Sunday May 9th.
Death: of Mary Hudson of Gurtinard and Old Blackrock Road, Cork. Mary was daughter of Ned Hudson and Hannah Hanrahan of Kilbaha; Mary's siblings were Ned, Sr. Peter deceased, Margaret, Bridget, Nora and Eileen. Following Requiem Mass celebrated in the Church of the Assumption Moyvane, Priests in attendance included Fr Lucid PP, Cannon Linnane, Fr Mc Carthy and Fr Walsh. Mary Hudson was laid to rest at Ahavoher Cemetery on Friday May 14th 04.

Death: of Paddy Meehan born Kilmorna 1919 son of Tom Meehan and Liz Collins. Paddy's  sblings were Dan, Den, Bill, Tom, May, Nell, Joan, Kit and Eileen. when Paddy Meehan Married Bessie about sixty years ago he moved to the Six Crosses Listowel. Paddy is survived by his two children Kathleen and Michael.
Following Requiem Mass on Monday May 17th 04 in St Mary's Listowel , Paddy Meehan was laid to rest at Finuge Cemetery.
Death took place on May 15th of Tim Shanahan of Tullamore, Shronowen, Listowel and late of Moyvane Village. He is survived by his brother Con and wife Sadie in London, Nephews, Nieces, Grandnephews, Grandnieces, cousins Nancy Flaherty and the Murphy Family of Pilgrim Hill Kilmorna. Tim was predeceased by his sisters Nodie, Mary USA, Nancy and brother Jackie.  Requiem Mass for Tim Shanahan was celebrated in St Theresa's Church Ballydonoghue on Tuesday May 18th . Tim was laid to rest among generations of his ancestors at Murhur Churchyard. Tim Shanahan was son of Cornelius Shanahan of Moyvane Village and Nora Murphy of Lisaniskea, at the age of 7 years he left Moyvane and went to live with his aunt Mrs Julia Keane nee Murphy in Ballydonoghue.

04 June 3

Death has taken place on May 22nd 04 of Nora Moloney nee O Mahony of Knocknisnaw, daughter of Martin O Mahony of Ballydonoghue and Mary O Sullivan. Her husband Michael, children Aidan, Deirdre, Orla and Una, Brother Maurice, Sisters Eileen and Maureen survive Nora, brother Danny predeceased her. Requiem Mass for Nora Moloney was concelebrated in the Church of the Assumption Abbeyfeale on Monday May 24th. Students from the local Mercy Convent sang the Hymns and later provided a guard of honour outside the Church. Nora Moloney's nursing colleagues at Tralee General Hospital also provided a guard of honour. Nora Moloney was laid to rest at Reilig Ide Naofa Abbeyfeale on a beautiful May day. 

04 June 17
Death: of Johanna ( Hannie) Mulvihill nee Sheehy aged 94 years of Lower Aughrim on June 3rd 04 .She was a daughter of John Sheehy and Johanna Ahern of Direen . Hannie was one of our most senior citizens and could read without glasses, is survived by her sons Paddy and John, daughters Joan, Ellen and Mary, her husband Michael Mulvihill passed away over 10 years ago. Hannie's siblings included Tead, Jim, Paddy, Mary, Edel, Martin and Bill. Following Requiem Mass in the Church of the Assumption Moyvane Hannie Mulvihill was laid to rest at Ahavoher following 11am Mass on Sunday June 6th.

Death: of Sr. Emelian Bunce of the Mercy Convent Balloonagh on June 2nd 04. Sr Emelian was born at Barragogeen on August 2nd 1918 a daughter of Michael and Mary Bunce. She is survived by brothers Mossie and Con, sisters Eileen and Peggy, Mary, Paddy and Michael predeceased Sr. Emelian who was laid to rest at the Convent Cemetery following Requiem Mass at the Convent Chapel Balloonagh on Friday June 4th 04. Sr. Emelian entered the Mercy Convent in 1936 and was professed in 1942 and taught Domestic Science.

Death: of Brother Hermes John O Connor of the De La Salle Order at Miguel House, Castletown, Co Laois. Br. Hermes born 80 years ago was son of Sony O Connor of Lisaniska and Ellen Riordan of Moyvane. Br. Hermes siblings were Peg , Mary and Davie who was a well known Accordion player. Michael O Connor of Lislaughtin and Athea is a cousin.  Brother Hermes O Connor was laid to rest in the Community Cemetery Castletown on Saturday 5th of June 04 following Requiem Mass attended by a huge crowd of his friends and past pupils.

04 June 24
Death took place of Sadie Shanahan of Crosley Green, Rickmanoworth, Herts. on June 6th 04, wife of Con Shanahan of Moyvane Village. Sadie was born at Achill Co Mayo and is survived by her husband Con, son Cornelius, daughter Deirdre, son in law Jonathan and grandson Samuel. Sadie Shanahan as laid to rest on Friday 18th of June 04 in Carpenter Park Cemetery Herts.


04 July 4

Death: of Sr. Edmond Walsh of the Presentation Convent Listowel. Sr. Edmond was born 1914 at Kilmurry, Cordal  and was professed at Oakpark in 1937 . Requiem Mass attended by her many friends was celebrated in the Convent Chapel on Thursday June 24th , following Mass Sr. Edmond was laid to rest beside her deceased Presentation Sisters in the Old Listowel Churchyard. Sr. Edmond has a nephew Fr Tom Walsh in Florida and a niece Sr. Ita of the Holy Rosary Sisters.

04 July 8
Death of Bridie Long nee Cox of Asdee East aged 57 years. Her husband Mike and children Tom, Mike, Jerry, John , Pat Joe, Noel, Marcus, Kathleen, Breda, Hannah and Mary Stack in Knockanure, sisters Kathy, Noreen and Mary Kearney survive Bridie. Bridie Long was laid to rest after Requiem Mass in Asdee Church in Lislaughtin  Abbey. A guard of honour was provided by members of several local societies which Bridie supported over the years.


04 July 15
Death has taken place of Patrick O Dowd of Lisaniska, son of Bill Dowd of Coolard who came to Knockanure to marry Mini O Connor. Patrick is survived by his wife Elizabeth O Kane, sons Gerald , Francis, John, Tom and Brendan, daughters Isobel and Mary, brother Willie and sister Noreen Dillane of Pilgrim Hill, his son Diarmuid, siblings Jerry, Christopher and Peg Ryan in England predeceased Patrick O Dowd who died in America. Patrick was laid to rest among his ancestors in Gale Churchyard, Lisselton following requiem Mass in Knockanure Church on Monday last July 12th


Death has occurred of Maureen Broderick of 39 Church St Listowel; Maureen was a daughter of Dan Broderick who died in April 1972 and Catherine Sweeney who died in January 1953. Sisters Joan, Margaret and Brother Ned survive Maureen and Sisters Josephine, Catherine and brother Donie predeceased her. Maureen Broderick was laid to rest in Old Knockanure Churchyard beside her parents after Requiem Mass in St Mary's Listowel.

04 July 22
Death has taken place of Pat Joe Stack aged 93 years of The Hill Upper Athea, he was predeceased by his wife Nell Fitzgerald, sisters May, Rita, Margaret, Bridget and brother Sean. Siblings Tom in Templeglantine, Nan Hurley in Athea and Eileen and Lil in England survive Pat Joe Stack he was laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery following Requiem Mass in Athea Parish Church on Tuesday 13th of July.

04 July 29

Death has taken place of Jim O Sullivan of Lacca Ballyhahill, author of The Keeper of the Land which tells the story of his life from witnessing the Black and Tans, to all the changes in farming over the years, the book also contained stories of his family and neighbours. Jim was born19th of June 1911 son of Patrick O Sullivan and Bridget Moore who was a sister of William Moore of Kilmeaney. Jim's wife, four sisters and a brother predeceased him. He is survived by his daughters Bridget, Elaine, Mary Norma and Anne, sons in law and grandchildren. Following Requiem Mass in the Church of the Visitation Ballyhahill Jim O Sullivan was laid to rest at Knockpatrick Cemetery.

Death has taken place of James Godley of the Cashen, Ballyduff he is survived by his son Eddie daughters Ena  and Helen . James was predeceased by his wife Mary Ann Houlihan, son Michael and daughter Marie. James Godley aged 97 years was laid to rest at Rahela Cemetery following Requiem Mass in SS Peter and Paul's Church Ballyduff on Monday July 26th 04.

Death has taken place of John O Brien of Caherdown, Listowel who was the last born and last surviving child of John O Brien and Joan O Donoghue of Knockanderval, Duagh having reached his  92nd year. John was predeceased by his wife Han Kelliher, siblings Fr Pat in California, Jerry in Knockanderval, Peg O Shea of Dingle, Mrs Joy Ballybruddery, Nell, Tim and Murt  in America. Mary and Bridie in America, Joan Moriarty of Ballydonoghue and Margaret Murphy of Couilin, Knockanure survive John O Brien of Caherdown.. John was laid to rest at the New Cemetery Listowel following Requiem Mass in St Mary's Listowel on Monday 9th of August 04.
