Jan 12-06 notes
DEATH: Sr. Anthony Joseph( Catherine) Mulvihill died on December 15th 05 at the Holy Faith Convent in Rockferry, Liverpool, she was born at Lower Athea on the 15th of August 1915 to Ned Mulvihill (carpenter) and Ellen McKenna (teacher). Sr. Anthony Joseph entered the Holy Family Order on January 29th 1934, went to (Ceylon) Sri Lanka on 21st August 1935, in 1958 she became principal of Kalutera School in Colombo, all Europeans were expelled from Sri Lanka in 1970, returning to England Sister continued her work in schools, libraries, Pastoral Ministry and was also Mother Superior at Liscard, in 1990 Sr. Anthony Joseph  retired to Rockferry.
Death has taken place on 28th of December 05 of Maureen McSkane nee Doyle of Glin Road Moyvane, daughter of James Doyle and Hannah O Connor, her husband Brian, brother Mick and sister Betty predeceased Maureen, her daughters Bernadette and Una,  and siblings Teresa, Peggy, Breda, Mena, Julia and Patsy  survive her.
Death of Kit O Rourke nee Buckley occurred on the 29th of December, Kit was born 76 years ago to Michael Buckley and Nora Shine at Moyvane Village, she was married to Paddy O Rourke of O Rourke's Cross, Bruree, her only daughter Patricia, siblings, Michael, Liam, Maura and Joe survives her. Fr Denis, Paddy, John, Con, Ned and Donie predeceased Kit O Rourke.
Death has taken place on Monday January 2nd 06  of Cornelius A Kennelly of Pallas , Listowel. Cornelius was born 42 years ago to Matt Kennelly of Pallas and Nora Hudson of Kilbaha, (Nora was aunt of the late Tim Kennelly). Cornelius is survived by his wife Ann Marie O Shea a native of Killarney, children Emma and David, his parents Matt and Nora, sisters Siobhan, Mary and Ann and brother Ned. Following Requiem Mass at the Cathedral Killarney Cornelius A Kennelly was laid to rest at Aghadoe Lawn cemetery.
Death has taken place on Maurice Kennelly of Inchamore, Husband of the late Ester Houlihan of Ballyconry,  son of Hannah Dowling of Duagh and Tim Kennelly of Coolaclarig,
his siblings were Michael and Catherine. Maurice's father Tim died when he was a young lad and his mother Hannah reared with her own children relations Nonie Kelleher and Margaret Dowling.  Maurice is survived by son Tim and daughter Josephine, following Requiem Mass on Sunday January 1st 06 in Moyvane Church celebrated by Fr Lucid and hymns sung by Peggy Sweeney , Maurice Kennelly who was 86 years last October was laid to rest at Kilsinan Churchyard.

DEATH has taken place on January 9th 06 of Bishop Michael McAuliffe retired Bishop of Jefferson City, son of Jack McAuliffe of Lower Athea and Bridget Broderick of Knocknagorna, he is survived by brothers Joe and Bill, Jack and Larry predeceased him. Bishop McAuliffe's  grandparents were Lawrence McAuliffe of Meenoline North and Catherine Wright of Gortnagloss

DEATH has taken place on January 8th 2006 of Sheila Walsh nee Murphy of Lisready, Loughill, Sheila is survived by her only son Gerard, her husband John Walsh a native of Gortnaskehy, Ballybunion predeceased her. Sheila was born at Garravane, Mountcollins to Pat Murphy and Julia Murphy nee Murphy, her siblings were Denis Knockanure, Philip Bunagara, Mike, Pat, Tom, Tim and Nellie. Following Requiem Mass at the Church of the Assumption Loughill Sheila Walsh was laid to rest at Loughill Cemetery on January 12th 2006.
Death has taken place recently of Margaret Dore of Casement Avenue, Tralee; Mossie Walsh of Skehenerin; Eileen O'Donoghue  who died in England recently and Mrs Catherine Carmody, Gortdromasillihy;

DEATH has occurred of Michael Bambury of Gortaglanna, Knockanure, he was predeceased by his wife Theresa McMahon, children Willie, Eileen, George and Monica survive him. Following Mass Michael was laid to rest among his ancestors at Lislaughtin Abbey Churchyard. Michael Bambury was a founding member of the Adoration group in Knockanure Church where he diligently did his hour from 5pm to 6pm every Tuesday till his illness.
DEATH has taken place of Helen Roche nee Stack of Rathkeale and Clounbrane, Moyvane on 29th of January 06, Helen is survived by son John and daughter Therese, brothers Stevin, Tommie and friend and companion Jerry Corden, her husband Paddy Roche died about twenty years ago. Following Requiem Mass in Moyvane Church celebrated by cousin Fr Paul Dillon assisted by Fr John Lucid, Fr Tom Mc Mahon, Fr Brendan O Callaghan, and Fr Jack Shine a neighbour, Helen Roche was laid to rest at Ahavoher Cemetery on Thursday 2nd of February 06, beside her father William Stack of Moyvane and mother Mary Danaher of Templeathea.
RECENT Deaths: Sr. Margaret O'Flaherty who died in Baltimore U.S.A. and late of Tubbertureen, Moyvane and for whom Mass will be offered on 20th Feb. at 7.30pm.
And for Nell Kiely. Who was laid to rest at Murhur Churchyard on Sunday following Requiem Mass in Moyvane Church.

Death took place in Baltimore, Maryland of Sr. Margaret Flaherty of the Mission Helpers of the Sacred Heart. Sr. Margaret was born 97 years ago to Edward Flaherty and Catherine McEnery of Tubbertureen, she was alert up to the end and celebrated 75 years in the Convent on February 4th 06. Sr. Margaret's siblings included Nell O Keeffe, Julia Walsh, Sr. Loreto ( Bridie), Sr. Majella  (Hanna), Sr. Nuala (Peg), Cathy Scannell, Nora Moore, Con, Jack, Jim, Eddy and Michael in America. Sr. Margaret emigrated to America and after some time entered the convent where she spent the rest of her life supporting the disadvantaged and the poor.
Death of John Keane of Ballygrennan, who was born about 77 years ago to Jack Keane of Ballygrennan and Ciss Collins of Aughrim. Jack and his brother Liam walked to Murhur school from his grandfathers Bill Collins house, Jack is also first cousin of the Connors at the Hill and the Leahy's of Lisanuisce. John's grandmother was McMahon of Gortaglanna, mother of old Jack Keane. John married Phyllis Lawler and his children are Margaret, Marie, Deirdre, Soibhan, Sean, Michael and Liam. John Keane's siblings include Fr Liam in Manchester, Michael in Ballymacelligott, Joan and Ann. Following Requiem Mass in Listowel Church John was laid to rest at St Michaels Churchyard Listowel on February 8th 06.

Feb. 23- 06
DEATH has taken place on February 9th 06 of Ned Stack of Rea, Kilmorna, son of Robert Stack and Hannah Broderick, he is survived by his sister Bridie and brother Mick, his sister Mary predeceased him about 10 years ago. Ned Stack was laid to rest in Springmount Cemetery Duagh following Requiem Mass which  was celebrated in St Bridget's Church  Duagh.
Death of Sr. Ann Maria Kennelly of the Presentation Convent , Lixnaw on 13th of February 06. Sr. Ann Maria was born at Moneen, Lisselton to Tom Kennelly who was a native of Woodford and Lil Pierce, Sr Ann Maria is survived by her siblings Mary, Eileen, Jim, Paddy and her sisters in the Presentation Order, her brother John predeceased her. Following Requiem Mass in the Parish Church in Lixnaw Sr. Ann Maria Kennelly was laid to rest in the Convent Cemetery. Sr. Ann Maria's nephew Fr Padraig Kennelly was ordained at Thurles in 1991.

March 2 -06
DIED recently: Mary Wallace, Glin; Mossie Walsh, Listowel; Mary Foley Coolkeragh.
DEATH has taken place of Mary  Carroll nee O Connor of Athea Village, Mary was born to Jer Connor and Bridget McMahon of Kilbaha 84 years ago. Mary's husband Dan Carroll, brothers Joe and Mike and sister Norrie who lives in America survive her, she was predeceased by brothers Jer and Paddy. Mary Carroll was laid to rest on Saturday last Feb. 22nd 06 at Holy Cross Cemetery Athea, following Requiem Mass in Athea Church celebrated by Fr Madden and Fr Kelly.

March 16th 06
DEATH has taken place on March 6th 06 of Mary Casey of Knockunderval, Duagh, Mary is survived by her sister Nora  in Lyrecrompane and her niece Helen Bambury nee O Keeffe of Gortaglanna and other nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by siblings Con, John, Kitty and Nell Casey who was married to Con Keeffe of Lixnaw. Following Requiem Mass in St Bridget's Church Duagh on Thursday last March 9th  Mary Casey was laid to rest among her ancestors at Springmount Cemetery, Duagh. Mary's ancestor Casey was a school teacher at Knockalucka.

Notes
DEATH of  William (Bill) Hudson who was born to Jack Hudson of Kilbaha and Kate nee Hanrahan of Aughrim in December 1921, Bill worked in England and returned to Ireland in 1974, he was predeceased by his siblings Dick who died in 1993, Patrick died in 2000, Jim died in 2002, Peg Collins was his only sister. Following Requiem Mass celebrated by Fr Lucid in Moyvane Church on Tuesday 14th of march 06 William Hudson was laid to rest on a lovely cool Spring day beside his brothers at Ahavoher Cemetery.
Death has taken place recently of Margaret Hanrahan nee O Sullivan and Catherine Kitty Lynch nee Windle, their remains were brought to Moyvane Church on Sunday evening last.

13th April 06

DEATH has taken place of Mai Hickey wife of late Eugene Hickey of Purt Abbeyfeale, Mai was daughter of Tom Meehan and Elizabeth Connell and her siblings were Bill, Denis, Dan, Tom, Paddy, Mary, Joan, Kit, Nell  and Liz. Mai who was taken to Abbeyfeale Church on Monday April 3rd 06  her 90th birthday is survived by children Michael, Jer, Dan, Matt, Tom, Mary B and Bernadette, she was predeceased by Phil and John. Following Requiem Mass in Abbeyfeale Church on Tuesday April 4th 06 Mai was laid to rest in the Old Churchyard Abbeyfeale beside her husband Eugene.
Death has taken place of Jimmy Cunningham of Kilbaha on April 1st 06. he was born in 1935 and married in 1969 to Ann Fitzsimons. Jimmy is survived by his wife Ann, children Katrina, John, James, Margaret and Mary and grandchild Tomas, siblings Timmy, Sr. Mary, Chris, Sr. Kathy, Ann and Phil. Following Requiem Mass in Moyvane Church Celebrated by Fr Lucid assisted by Canon Kelly, Canon O Keeffe and Fr O Leary, Sean Ahern Sang the Hymns and Francis O Farrell played the organ  on Tuesday April 4th Jimmy Cunningham was laid to rest at Ahavoher Graveyard beside his father Jack who died in 1990 and mother Kitty nee McCoy of Athea who died in 1977.
DEATH has occurred of Eily Carr of Marian Place, Glin, daughter of Bridget Egan and Michael Carr of Aughrim, Eily is survived by her sisters Bridget and Julia and was predeceased by siblings Michael, Billy, Con and Mary Following Requiem Mass in Glin Church by Fr Crawford and Fr Madigan, Eily Carr was laid to rest at Ahavoher Graveyard on Tuesday April 4th 06  on a nice dry sunshine day with a cool easterly drying wind.
Death of Bridie Shine nee Mullane of Lower Athea took place on April 3rd 06, she was predeceased by her husband Tadhg Shine a well known smith in Athea. Bridie is survived by her children Mary, Breda, Noreen and Mike  Bridie was laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery following Requiem Mass in Athea Parish Church.  

April 20th 06
DEATH has taken place April 9th 06 of Nora Brosnan nee Joy of Barragogeen Nora was laid to rest at St Michaels Churchyard Listowel on Tuesday 11th of April 06 following requiem Mass in Moyvane Church.

April 27th 06
DEATH of Dawn Murphy( nee Jackson) of Kilmorna took place on April 16th 06. Dawn was a native of Pingella, Western Australia. Dawn Murphy is survived by her husband Michael, son Edward, daughters Sharon, Maggie, and Siobhan, brothers Dennis, Justin, sisters Norma, Talma, Kaye, and Joan grandson Ciaran. Requiem Mass for Dawn Murphy was celebrated at Knockanure Church on Thursday 20th of April 06 by Fr John Lucid and Fr Tom McMahon, Stephen Donegan sang hymns during Mass and played the organ, family members did the readings and presented memorabilia of Dawns life in Ireland and Australia. Following Mass Dawn Murphy was laid to rest at Springmount Cemetery Duagh. Dawn was born in 1942 to William and Jean Jackson and she married Michael Murphy on May 9th 1975. While we were saying a final farewell to Dawn at Knockanure a Mass was also being said in her remembrance at her native place in York.
DIED in Australia Sr. Brendan Molyneaux of Woodford; Marion Nolan nee Murphy late of Bedford.
DEATH on April 19th 06 of Paddy Flavin of Dirha and Late of Bedford Cross, Listowel at the residence of his daughter Maura Lynch, he was predeceased by his wife Lil Rowan. Paddy is survived by his daughters Betty, Eleanor,  Maura and Noreen who lives in Knockanure. Following Requiem Mass in Listowel Church celebrated by Fr Donal O Connor and Fr Tom McMahon,  Paddy Flavin was laid to rest at St Michaels Churchyard, Listowel on Friday 21st of April. Paddy's brother Eamon predeceased him, they were sons of Moss Flavin and Nora Brown.
DEATH of Dan Keane of Keylod aged 82 years, Dan was predeceased by his wife Margaret Stack and is survived by his daughter Ann, sons Denis, Michael and Tomas, his brother Pat Joe and aunt Sheila and was predeceased by brother Mick and sister Peg Mulvihill. Following Requiem Mass in Knockanure Church on Saturday last 22nd of April celebrated by Fr Tom McMahon and Fr Brick, Dan Keane was laid to rest at Ahavoher Graveyard beside his wife Margaret. Dan was son of Michael Keane of Lenamore and Mary Ann Collins of Ballybunion.

The death has taken place of Michael O Connor of Leitrim East, Moyvane, on April 27th 06 aged 75 years. Michael was born at Tarmons River, Tarbert and is survived by his wife Peggy O Sullivan, son Liam, daughters Brid and Ann ,sister Tessie, brothers Tommy and John. Michael O Connor was laid to rest at St Mary's Cemetery Tarbert.
Michael's brothers Tommy and John were great athletes.

Death took place on Good Friday April 14th 06 of Peter Carmody at Kildysart, Co Clare. Peter was born at Ahalanna, Moyvane 64 years ago to Michael Carmody and Mary Stack. His brother Bishop Eddie Carmody and several priests concelebrated Mass for Peter at Clarecastle Parish Church, Co Clare, following Mass he was laid to rest at St Mary's Cemetery, Tarbert, His wife Margaret, daughters Clare, Niamh and Carol and son Gerard survive Peter Carmody. Peters siblings were Michael, Eddie, John, Brendan, Maurice, Pascal, Finbarr, Martin, Noel, Eileen, Sheila and Sr. Mary.

MAY 18th  06 notes
DEATH took place at Guy's Hospital on May 2nd of Tim Stack of the Hill Moyvane and London where he worked in a practice for 45 years. Tim was son of Edward Stack of The Hill and Bridie O Hanlon of Ballyduff, his sisters Kathleen O Connor and Dolly Dillane survive him, siblings Willie, Margaret, and Mary predeceased Tim Stack who will be brought home to rest with his ancestors in Murhur.
Death of Eza Stanley of Flean Ballyhahill, she is survived by her sister Mary Jo in America, brothers Fr Mort, Pat and Michael, she was predeceased by her brother Tom . Requiem Mass for Eza Stanley was celebrated by 11 priests at the Church of the Immaculate Conception Glin on Wednesday May 10th 06, the Ballyhahill and Glin choir sang the hymns. Chief celebrant Fr Mort Stanley who was assisted by Fr Crawford, Cannon Linnane, Fr Mc Mahon, Fr Dillon, Fr Ryan, Fr Davern, Fr Keane, Fr Morrissey. Eza Stanley was laid to rest following Mass in the Stanley ancestral grave in Kilfergus Churchyard beside her father Joe Stanley who died in 1972, her mother Margaret Daly a native of Duagh who died in 1966, her brother Tom who died in 2004 and her aunt Mary Jo Daly died in 1988 aged 91 years.
Death took place of Toddy O Sullivan of Derry Listowel son of Bill Sullivan and Babe Ann Walsh. Toddy is survived by his wife Maureen Galvin, daughter Annette son William and daughter-in law Margaret, brother Patsy, Sisters Sr. Bridie in Tralee Presentation, Mary in Ballylongford and Peggy O Connor in Moyvane. Following Requiem Mass in Listowel Church on Friday may 12th  Toddy O Sullivan was laid to rest at St Michael's Churchyard Listowel. Toddy and Maureen established Oakland's Nursing Home in Derry.

May 25th Notes 06
DEATH has taken place on May 11th 06 of Eamonn Cotter of Knockanure and late of Collins Avenue, Dublin, he is survived by his wife Veronica, sons Janes and John, brothers and sister. Following Requiem Mass at Corpus Christi Church Knockanure, Eamonn Cotter was laid to rest at Ahavoher Graveyard on Monday May 15th 06.
Death took place on May 14th 06 of John Guiney of Charles St., Listowel son of Jack Guiney of Moyvane South and Biddy Enright of Clounleharde, John is survived by his wife Babs Enright and  children. His son Brendan, brothers Jim in the North of Ireland and Willie in the ancestral home in Moyvane predeceased  John Guiney who was laid to rest at St Michael's Churchyard, Listowel following Requiem Mass in Listowel Church on Wednesday May 17th 06.
Canon Linnane said the graveside prayers and Jerry Brosnan sang an old football song which mentioned the exploits of the Guiney's.


JUNE 1st 06

DEATH took place on May 2nd 06 of Dr Timothy Stack of Wincroft Street, London and the Hill Moyvane, his remains were received at Moyvane Church having come from Shannon on Monday evening May 22nd  by Fr John Lucid and Fr Tommy O Hanlon (a cousin). On Tuesday May 23rd  Requiem Mass for Tim was celebrated by Fr Lucid and Fr Lawler (a cousin from the Hanlon side), Sean Ahern sang the hymns and Ann Cunningham played the organ. Following Mass Tim Stack who attended St Michaels College and Trinity was laid to rest with his father Edward Stack who died 49 years ago and his mother Bridie O Hanlon who died c 1956 in Murhur Churchyard watched by his sorrowing sister Cathleen, nephews and nieces neighbours and friends, his sister Dolly Dillane was unable to attend.
DEATH Has taken place of Michael Murphy of Knockanure, Michael is survived by his brother John and sister Sr. Declan in Ferbane Convent, he was predeceased by his brother Billy, sisters Kitty O Connor and Julia Nolan. Requiem Mass for Michael Murphy was celebrated in Knockanure Church on Ascension Thursday May 25th  by Fr Lucid and Fr Tom Mc Mahon, hymns were sung by the Flaherty Family. Following Mass Michael was laid to rest at Old Knockanure Churchyard with his father Michael who died in 1959, his mother Maria Galvin died 1968, , aunt Julia Mc Mahon and uncles John, Mick, Tom, and Edward Murphy  
his grandfather who was the second generation of the Murphy's in Knockanure died 1906, his wife Marie O Connor died 1908.
The Murphy's came from the Irremore side.

JUNE  8th 06
DEATH has taken place of Micheal Mulvihill of Gortdromosillihy  son of Danny Dan Mick Mulvihill and Jule Stack a native of Moyvane South. He is survived by his wife Margaret Dowling and children D.J., Micheal, Mossie, Jackie, Brendan, Mollie and Julie. Micheal's siblings include Donie, Brendan in California, John Joe in Navan, Theresa in Chicago and Joan Dunne who predeceased him. Requiem Mass for Micheal Mulvihill was celebrated in Moyvane Church on Wednesday 31st of May feast of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was laid to rest at Murhur Churchyard.
Death has taken place of Ita Collins nee McEnery, of Knocknagorna. Ita was daughter of Denis McEnery of Tubbertureen and Margaret Hudson of Kilbaha. Her Husband Jack Collins  died about 22 year ago. Ita is survived by her children Sean, Denis, Paddy, Hilda Hunt, Peg Dermody, Siobhan Barrett, Rose Collins and Helen Shaughnessy, her siblings include Madeline, Noreen Mullane, Denis Mc Enery, Hannah in London, she was predeceased by siblings Sony, Kathy and Birdie. Ita Collins was laid to rest at Holy Cross cemetery Athea following Requiem Mass in St Bartholomew's Church Athea, celebrated by Fr O Leary, Fr Madden and Canon Kelly.
Death has taken place of Anna Mary Grimes nee Moore of Charles Street, Listowel and London.

June 22nd 06

Death has taken place of Maureen Moore of Park, Upper Athea. Maureen was laid to rest on Friday June 16th  06  at Holy Cross cemetery Athea after Requiem Mass in St Bartholomew's Church Athea. Maureen Moore was daughter of Jack Moore a native of Glin Road, Moyvane, her mother was Nellie Scanlon she had one sister Hannie Moore Fitzgerald and a brother Tom. 
DEATH has taken place in Dorchester, Boston on Friday June 9th 06 of P.J. Flavin son of Pat Flavin formally of Carrueragh and Caron Stapleton who is American.
Death of CJ Haughey on June 13th 06 and State funeral will be long remembered by most people. It is time that all will show feeling for the sorrow of his wife, family and relatives.

Death took place recently of Julie O Connor nee Kissane of St John's Park Tralee and Moyvane, Mary Shanahan nee Mulvihill of Kilcolgan and Moyvane Village.

DEATH has taken place on June 17th 06 of Bridie O Connell nee Kissane of Dooncaha, Tarbert. Bridie was predeceased by her husband Maurice, they had 14 children, many of them played in the O Connell Ceili band both at home and abroad. Bridie is survived by children Mary, Nora, Margaret, Breda, Joan, Kathleen, Patricia, Joseph, Richard, Michael, Maurice, Jeremiah, Anthony and Patrick. Following requiem Mass in Tarbert Church Bridie O Connell was laid to rest in the adjoining churchyard.
DEATH has taken place on 1st of July 06 of Paddy Maher of Trieneragh, Duagh, son of Batsy Maher of Duagh and Bridget Broderick of Gortdromagowna, Knockanure. Paddy's wife Eileen Walsh, children Geraldine, Marie, Margaret, Norma, Patricia, Batsy and Eamonn, brothers Jer and Batsy, sisters Teresa and Joanne survives him. Paddy Maher was predeceased by siblings John, Kate, Lily, Peg, Mary and Sister Rosario who was a Mercy sister in Tullamore in Co Offaly. Requiem Mass for Paddy Maher was celebrated in St. Bridget's Church Duagh on July 3rd by his first cousin Fr Michael Maher assisted by Fr Pat Moore, Cannon Linnane, Fr Hartnett, Fr Paul Dillon and Fr Tom Mc Mahon, following mass Paddy Maher was laid to rest at Springmount Churchyard. Paddy's cousins include the Broderick's of Gortdromagowna, Larkin's Carrueragh, Fr Gaughan, Michael Dowling, Batt Keefe to name a few.

DEATH has taken place of Margaret Flaherty nee Dunford of Glin Road, Moyvane, Margaret was a daughter of Tim and Harriet(nee Buckley of the Mail Road) Dunfort, Tim was from Aughrim, Margaret was predeceased by her husband James, sister Annie of Church Road Moyvane and brother Johnny Dunfort. Margaret is survived by her children William, Margaret, Maria and Sr. Noreen. Following Requiem Mass in Moyvane church on Thursday last July 20th Margaret Flaherty was laid to rest beside her husband at Ahavoher Graveyard.
DEATH took place on July 12th of Bridie Sheehy of Clahane, Lyreacrompane daughter of Michael and Nora Barry of Pallas she had three siblings.  Bridie was predeceased by her husband John Joe Sheehy and son Kieran, she is survived by sons Michael and John Joe, daughters Noreen and Hannah Mai Collins of Collins Nurseries, brother Tom and sister Hannah. Following Requiem Mass in Lyreacrompane Church Bridie was laid to rest at Lyreacrompane New Cemetery, her husband John Joe died in 1997.

DEATH has taken place of Kit Dee nee Moloney who lived at Rusheen, Ballylongford. Kit is survived by her husband John, son Sean and daughter Sandra. siblings Mike, John, Joe, Jim, Danny, Tom, Mossie, Joan, Lena, Margaret, Patsy, Sheila and Mary who is married to Tony Buckley of Keylod, her brother Gerard Moloney predeceased her.  Kit Dee was laid to rest at Lislaughtin Abbey following requiem Mass in Ballylongford Church on July 29th 06. Kit Dee was daughter of Paddy Moloney and Nell Heffernan of Woodford, Listowel.

DEATH of Fr Kieran O Shea retired Parish Priest of Knocknagoshel came as a surprise and shock to all who knew him, Fr O Shea was a much loved pastor wherever he worked, as a historian he was like a beaver working away quietly producing works which will bring credit to his name for generations to come. Fr Kieran O Shea was Ordained in Maynooth in 1961 and was laid to rest beside the Bible Garden, a project he inspired  in Knocknagoshel on Monday August 7th 06.
Death on August 7th 06  of John Carmody aged 57 years in Wexford, John was a native of Trieneragh, Duagh and is survived by his wife Catherine, daughter Kay, sons Sean and Kevin, brothers Michael and Dan, sisters Nora, Mary, Kitty and Margaret. John Carmody was laid to rest at Barntown Cemetery near Wexford Town.

DEATH took place on Sunday August 6th 06 of Neilus O Connell who as born at Abbeyfeale and lived at Foxrock, Dublin. Fifty years ago he started promoted Bridie Gallagher, Margaret Barry, Val Doonican and a host of other bands, artists and events. Neilus O Connell was laid to rest at Reilig Ide Naofa following requiem mass in the Church of the Assumption, Abbeyfeale, he is survived by his wife Jo, daughter Siobhan, sons Michael, Con and Donal, siblings Tom, Joe and Noreen.
Death has taken place of Patrick (Sonny) Halpin of Clounmacon and Kathleen O Connor of Curraghatoosane, Listowel.

DEATH has taken place on 24th of August 06 in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford of Bridie O Connor nee Stack.
Bridie born at Aughrim was one of a family of 11 children born to Patrick Stack of Aughrim and Margaret Flaherty of Knockanure. She was predeceased by her husband Tom O Connor a native of Enniscorthy whom she married in England in 1953, their daughter Francis survives them. Bridie's   siblings included Tim, Teresa, Mike, Pat, Jim, Nora, Richard, Mary, Hannah and John.
Bridie went to England in the late 40's where she met and married Tom; they returned to Ireland and settled in Enniscorthy in the early 1980's.
DEATH took place on Sunday August 27th 06 in England of Peggy Grego nee McElligott a native of Lisaniska, her husband Joe, son Tony, brothers Tom and John predeceased Peggy. Peggy was daughter of John McElligott and Mary Herbert.
DEATH took place on September 1st 06 of Moss McGrath of Ballyguiltenane, Glin at the Regional Hospital, Limerick. His wife Elizabeth Barrett a native of Knocknagorna predeceased him, his sons Jim and Tom, daughters Mary, Breeda, Betty and Kathleen survive Moss. Following Requiem Mass in Glin Parish Church on Sunday September 3rd 06, Moss McGrath was laid to rest in Kilfergus Churchyard, Glin. Moss had one sibling Kitty Hudson, his mother was O Connell of Clounleharde and his father was Jim McGrath.

DEATH has taken place on September 8th 06 of James Anthony O Callaghan N.T. of Cahirdown, Listowel. Tony to all his friends was born at Knockanure and was son of local National Teacher Paddy O Callaghan and Bessie Cronin of the Village.
Tony is survived by his wife Nancy daughters Mairian, Anne and Stephanie, sons Pat and Tony, Brother Fr Brendan and sister Mairead. Fr Austin predeceased Tony. Following Requiem Mass concelebrated by Fr Brendan O Callaghan and his brother priests in Listowel Church Tony was laid to rest at St Michaels Churchyard, Listowel. During his lifetime Tony made countless artistic copper items which now adorn both public buildings and private homes around the globe, before his retirement he was a teacher and a member of Listowel Town Council.
DEATH has taken place of Sr. Johanna Leahy of the Daughters of Mary and Joseph she was born at Beenanasbig on the 23rd of November 1916 to Tim Leahy and Bell Danaher of Glenagore, her siblings include Tim, Paddy, Tom, Dan, Philip, Betty, Bea and Josie.. Sr. Johanna went to Athea National School, went by train from Kilmorna to Secondary school in Lixnaw from September 1932 to July 1934; attended the Convent of the Ladies of Mary, Scarborough, Yorkshire completed Leaving Cert in July 1936; came home July 1936 till she entered Noviciate of the Ladies of Mary, Forest Hill, London in February 1937 where she made First Profession in September 1938, Johanna continued her noviciate in Belgium at Noviciat des Dames de Marie, 140 Rue Edith Cavell, Bruxeiles'38-'39; returning to Forest Hill, London August 1939 for Final Profession; sailed for America in 1940 to the convent at Rancho Palos Verde's, California. Sr. Johanna Leahy died at the convent of the Daughters of Mary and Joseph, 5300 Crest Road, Rancho Palos Verde's, Laos Angeles, California 90275 and was laid to rest on Monday18th of September 2006.
DEATH has taken place of Eamon Riordan of Dirreen, he was son of Tim Riordan and Hannie Hudson, his siblings include Josie, Mary and Peg, his children Eileen, Breda, Anne, Tim Joe, Harry, Ned and Tom survive him, Eamon was predeceased by his wife Bridie Sheahan of Ballyguiltenane. Following requiem mass at Athea Church Eamon Riordan was laid to rest beside his wife at Ahavoher graveyard on Friday 15th of September '06.

DEATH has taken place on October 11th 06 of Annie Flynn nee Houlihan of Pilgrim Hill, Duagh, Annie is survived by her husband Patsy and sons John, David, Pat and Aidan, brother John Houlihan, sisters Maureen O Keeffe and Bridie Bambury, following Requiem Mass in St Bridget's Church Duagh celebrated by Fr Moore PP and hymns sung by her favourite singer Eddy Lee, Annie Flynn was laid to rest at John Paul11 Cemetery, Listowel. Annie was born at Ballyconry, Lisselton.

MEMORIAL to 28 Irishmen who were killed during the war in Korea was unveiled at Green Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn on Saturday October 14th 06, they were all under 24 years, among the names on the memorial is Patrick Sheahan who was killed aged 23 years on October 4th 1951 and later laid to rest in Murhur Churchyard, Moyvane, Patrick was awarded Silver and Bronze medals for bravery. The memorial in Green Wood Cemetery is near the grave of Matilda Tone, widow of Wolfe Tone.
REMEMBERED: Moyvane born Pat Sweeney won the Athea Mary O Sullivan Award for Service to the Community in 2002, he will be remembered by an amenity area near the new foot bridge beside the river Gale in Athea, Pat died sudden in 2005.

Following Mass Bub Flavin was laid to rest at Ahavoher Graveyard surrounded by his siblings, nephews, nieces and his many friends.

Maureen was aged 74 years and is survived by her daughter Nora Finucane, Listowel, sons John Kirby, Cork and Tim Kirby in Derrindaffe.

DEATH has taken place on December 7th `06 of John Joseph McElligott of Oakpark, Tralee and Rathea, he is survived by his wife Helen and children Anne, Mary and John. Following Requiem Mass at St John's Tralee John Joseph McElligott was laid to rest at New Rath Cemetery on Saturday Dec. 9th `06, he graduated from UCD in 1949 and was a brother-in-law to the Moore's of Glenalappa.

DEATH has taken place of Elizabeth Mary Murphy nee Dore of of London and Gortdromosillihy, funeral service for Elizabeth Mary Murphy was held at New South Gate Crematorium, London, N11on Friday December 15th `06. Elizabeth Mary Murphy was daughter of Michael Dore and Hannie Dunne; her siblings included Michael, Pat, Jim, Margaret, Kit, Nell, Hannah, Bridge Thornton and Liz Mulvihill.
Death has taken place of Nora Foran nee Enright of Aughrim, Moyvane on December 7th `06, funeral service was held at the Blessed Sacrament Church, Copenhagen Street, London. Nora foran was daughter of Joe Enright and Nodie Brassil of Aughrim, her siblings include Dan, Jack and Ciss Quirke.
DEATH has taken place on December 16th `06 in Wichita, Kansas of Fr Dan Mulvihill a native of Shronowen aged 80 years. Son of Ned Mulvihill of Shronowen and Julia Sullivan of Lixnaw, his siblings included the late Michael in Enfield and Dennis, Listowel, and survived by Sr. Mary Mercedes in Presentation, Thurles, and Gerald on the home farm. Fr Dan had about 60 relations within living memory serving the Church including Fr Pierce of Maynooth. Fr Dan Mulvihill was laid to rest in Kansas.
Death has taken place of Kathleen Mulvihill nee Woulfe a native of Beale, aged 98 years; she was eldest of six children. Kathleen Mulvihill is survived by her daughter Phil Buckley, Katkleen taught in Murhur School about 60 years ago and lodged at Michael Buckley's just across from the Presbytery in Moyvane, she also taught in Millstreet, Tullamore and Beale. Kathleen was a sister of well known GAA man Tom Woulfe.

DEATH has taken place in England of John Joe Stackpoole, he was born at Upper Aughrim 69 years ago to Batt Stackpoole and Margaret Windle, John Joe was an only son and died on December 8th `06.
Death has taken place of Maura Galvin of Gurtcreen and Main Street, Listowel.

DEATH took place on December 12th `06 of Fr John O Sullivan who was a curate in Duagh from 1956 to`58, he was aged 85 years and was 60 years a priest last July. Historians will recall his involvement with the Tuosist Newsletter, Fr O Sullivan was in Tuosist from 1975 to `84.
DEATH took place on December 30th `06 of Joan Kennelly nee O Connor of Kerry's Eye, Tralee. Joan was born at Ballymullen to Mary Francis O Sullivan and Jerry O Connor in 1930, she had a brother Denis and a sister Alice. Joan Kennelly is survived by her husband Padraig sons Padraig Jnr., Jerry, Brendan and Kerry and her sister Alice. Following Requiem Mass in St John's Church Tralee Joan Kennelly was laid to rest at Rath Cemetery with the Kennellys.
