Men of the Sea I'm standing on the dock As a ship comes slowly in. The tugs nudge her gently to her berth, I wonder where she's been. Has she traveled half the world around To deliver her cargo here? Did she encounter foul weather, Was there any private fear? These men that guide these ships That sail the ocean wide Are strong and hearty men, And they have their private pride. Don't be fooled, it's a lonely life Most seamen will agree, But it's a challenge Extended by the sea.
Tall Ships There's a windblown "Tall Ship". Her sails are full and lines are tight. She's a credit to her nation, A true ambassador and a sight. What makes a ship a "Tall Ship", Is it the height of her masts? Or could it be another thing Like the history of her past. Whatever the reason, She's a craft of legendary beauty, With a history of heavy sailing And a sailor's life hard duty. A "Tall Ship" need not Be a ship of war. Perhaps she was a merchantman, And half the world she saw. To be sure, she's weathered many a storm And had her share of gale, But she's a stout ship And carrys many a sail.
Solace of the Sea I'm on a boat a sailing, A sailing on the sea. The sails are full and beautiful As she heels to the lee. A wave comes a washing Over me and the crew; It really doesn't matter, The sky's a brilliant blue. The sea is rolling gently, The world is big and bright. All my cares and problems Are fading out of sight. There never was a freedom Inside a person's soul, That could give greater comfort Than a good boats gentle roll. Theres a seagull on the spreader, His respite from the sea. Hell stay aboard awhile, Then away, for he is free. As we sail on we must remember That were a guest out here. The sea is the ruler, There is nothing to fear. Pay homage to this expanse Of water we call the sea, She will watch over us If we obey the rules that be.
