Procedures

The lesson will start out with lectures on Jazz and what Jazz is about.  The students will then research historical facts and figures that have been involved with Jazz since the beginning of the twentieth century.  The students will create a time line starting at the beginning of the twentieth century and will find a historical fact or figure to discuss for each decade up until the present time.  The children will be able to work in groups and they will be able to research at home.  When the time lines are finished from the groups, the students will present the timelines to the rest of the class.

Student Assessment

At the end of the lesson plan there will be a game that is based off the information that the children had found.  This will help the students retain the information.  There will also be questions of a final exam about what was learned in this lesson.
