History; Jazz Timeline

America’s Music

Jazz is considered America’s Music because it is the only true art form native to America (besides comic books).  Make a time line at the beginning at the start of the 1900’s.  For each decade (10 years) find a person, place, or thing that had a great influence on Jazz. End the timeline at the year 2000.  Write something about that person for each decade, and why they are an influence on jazz.  Use the following web sites to find the information you need to complete this project.  At the bottom is the rubric you will be graded on.

Once you find the influences, write a one or two sentence something about the influence.

There should not be more than ten influences.  Again, you can divide the work between members of your group.

Friday

Put the time line together.  Use a Poster Board and draw your Time line and place the influences on the time line.

Be creative with it, we will want to hang them up in the room when we are finished.
