| On Saturday 29th may four tired scouts and a caffine craving leader, who until a few days ago doubted the existance of 8am on a Saturday, were packing the last things into their packs (or unpacking in the case of a certain scout who had decided it was necessary to have countless changes of clothes and a hard cover novel). Yes Emma Powell, Benny-Boy Ellis, Scotty Chapman and Tiny Tim Handisides and Chris 'The Boss' Chapman were embarking on the wonderous adventue that is known as Campers Cup. The adventurers arrived at the starting point and decided that they would be known as "MisQuoted" (anything you say will be misquoted and used against you). Patrols attending Campers Cup were from St Nicks, St Matts, Rakaia, Dallington, Burwood, Allenton, Diamonf Harbour, Malvern and Hinds. MisQuoted started off down the track only to discover Scotts pack was broken. Using Scout ingenuity and a piece of string they managed to fix it. They arrived at their destination (Mania-O-Roto Park), set up theri tents and had lunch and then it was time for their first challenge. Off went MisQuoted to the Ashburton Domain to try their hand at orienteering After deciding the best strategy was splitting into pairs and covering half the control each (Ben and Scott, Emma and Tim) they finished ahead of all bar one Venturer scoring maximum points. The it was back to base for a tea of soup, rice risotto and chicken and veges, friut and jelly and yoghurt. After that it was Campfire where they performed their new chant/song. Once the campfire died down there was the option of watching Master and Commader, but MisQuoted played Boom-O instead. Ben doesn't seem to like that game anymore.... Then it was supper and bedtime in preparation for another big day on Sunday. There was a lot of pressure being let off all day and into the night by certain members of the patrol. The sun rose to a refreshed MisQuoted patrol cooking pancake. After chow came team building exercises such as boiling water by constructing a fire on a sheet of iron and getting a goat, a cabbage and a wolf across a river without them eating each other. After these activities it was lunch and pack up time and the weekend ended with prize giving. MisQuoted was awarded Silver, a great first time effort. The celebrated at McDonalds AshVegas then home for a hot shower. BRING ON NEXT YEAR !!! |
