Dallas County Democrats
SDEC Candidates:
Michael Moon

This site is an ARCHIVE of the website used for the Dallas County Democratic Party from 2000 to May of 2002, and which was built by the then Chair Bill Howell. Though some information here will be relevant through the 2002 elections, other pages here are of interest for history or research. For the latest updated news about the Dallas County Democratic Party, see their own website at www.dallasdemocrats.org.

[We forwarded this to the email list for Michael Moon, who is running for the State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC). We will also forward similar announcements for any other Democrats seeking this office.]

Dear fellow Democrats:

We are truly living in interesting times! For the first time in over 20 years, we as Democrats in Dallas County have the opportunity to elect over 50 candidates across the county. The republicans are not only concerned; they are scared that we will elect Democrats in November. That is because we will!

One way to insure this is to have party leaders that are prepared to work and work hard to help our candidates win! It is because of this that I have decided to run for the office of State Democratic Executive Committeeman (S.D.E.C.) for the 23rd Senate District. My extensive campaign experience, club activity, and Democratic Party service makes me the most qualified candidate for this position.

I have been involved in Democratic campaigns for nearly 20 years. I am proud to have been a volunteer or staff member for the following campaigns: Lloyd Doggett for US Senate (1984), Gary Hart for President (1984), Jim Mattox for Attorney General (1982, and 1986), Mark White for Governor (1986), Jim Mattox for Governor (1990), Clinton/Gore (1992), Bob Krueger (1993), Jim Mattox for US Senate (1996), Mary Ann Huey (2000) and many more. As a member of the SDEC, I will bring to the table active campaign experience on the county, state and national level.

On the organizational level, I have been a member or served as an officer on Democratic Clubs across the county, including Dallas Area Young Democrats, Dallas County East Democrats, 2nd Senatorial Tejano Democrats and Dallas Stonewall Democrats. I have been a delegate or alternate to every Democratic Convention since 1984 and served on the Credentials Committee at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago (1996). I have also served as a Precinct Chair (1994 - 2002) and as Texas National Committeeman for the Young Democrats of America.

As a member of the State Democratic Executive Committee, not only will I have an input on how the Texas Democratic Party distributes resources to the Dallas Area, but I will do everything I can to help precinct chairs, clubs and campaigns maximize the Democratic vote and bring us victory in November. I am willing to work hard and ask others to work.

Dear friends, I need your help! If you are a delegate in the 23rd Senate District, I humbly ask for your support in my race. If you are not a delegate in the 23rd, please talk about me to your friends that are. My plan is to contact every delegate in the upcoming weeks and your words of support will help.

I look forward to seeing all of you in El Paso in June. If there is anything that I can help you with, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your help and support.

Democratically yours,

Michael Moon
