These runoffs for Precinct Chair in these precincts will be printed on the ballot for April 9. They are the result of write-in votes for Precinct Chair in the March 12 Primary of people who had not filed as write-in candidates by the deadline in January. These people were notified by mail that they had been written in, but did not withdraw by the deadline March 22. Some of them may in fact have been written in by someone else and have no desire to serve, but the law requires that they be printed on the ballot for a runoff if they did not actually withdraw. If they do not wish to serve they may decline if elected.

On the other hand, those who filed as write-in candidates by the deadline and had no opponent were simply declared elected and not even printed on the ballot, so it wasn't physically possible for them to write themselves in. This law about Precinct Chair write-ins and filings and withdrawals is totally confusing to everyone and needs to be changed!.
