Manny Molera Launches Campaign for U.S. House
McKINNEY, Tx � Declaring himself ?A New Leader for a New Time,? Manuel E. ?Manny? Molera, Jr. of McKinney announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives from the 3rd District of Texas in 2002.
Molera will focus his campaign on securing a resposible prosperity for all Americans through a philosophy he calls ?progressive capitalism.? To achieve this, he will ask district voters to endorse his ideas for strengthening and protecting public education, ensuring the availability of quality healthcare for all Americans, development of new energy sources to reduce reliance on foreign oil, and a commitment to keeping America?s military the best trained and equipped force in the world. His goal is restoring an American prosperity that touches all Americans through creation of jobs for an educated and trained workforce.
Manny Molera is a 40-year-old native of Nogales, AZ, who has lived in McKinney since 1993. Currently, he serves as Director of Human Resources for Nortel Networks, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer, at its U.S. headquarters in Richardson. His professional career also includes positions with Exxon-Mobil and Frito-Lay. He is a 1983 graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY, and served with distinction for seven years of active duty in the United States Army, commanding combat arms units and achieving the rank of captain. He and his wife Tracy, a North Texas native, have three children: John, 6; Anna, 4; and Grace, 2.
The Moleras are actively involved in the McKinney community. Manny has served as president of the Mayfair Homeowners Association since 1998, and has been chairman of the Mayfair Neighborhood Crime Watch Council. Tracy serves on the Board of Directors for the Volunteer McKinney Center, previously as board secretary and currently as its treasurer. She also participates in McKinney?s Meals on Wheels and Public Library Volunteer Programs.
