She is facing Steve Smith, who beat incumbent Xavier Rodriguez in the Republican primary despite Rick Perry's heavy support for Rodriguez. Smith, best known for pursuing the "Hopwood" case, has no Judicial experience. She has received truly bipartisan support (handily WINNING the Dallas Bar poll)."
