CONSIDERED AS ONE OF THE MOST DISTINGUISHED ACTORS IN HER COUNTRY, she was born in Gross Point Park, Michigan, on December 2, 1925, and studied at Miss Hewitt´s School in N.Y.C.
After her graduation, she checked in the Yale Drama School, but, at half junior course, she made an audition for a role in a Broadway play, comedy IT´S A GIFT, and got the job. Her TONY Awards were achieved for I AM A CAMERA (1951), as Joan of Ark in THE LARK (1955), 40 CARATS (1968), THE LAST OF MRS. LINCOLN (1972) and THE BELLE OF AMHERST (1976). Her Emmys were won by 2 Hallmark Hall of Fame Specials: LITTLE MOON OF ALBAN (1958) and VICTORIA REGINA (1961).
Julie Harris is also known for her successful movie performances, including such remarkable acting as those in THE MEMBER OF THE WEDDING, I AM A CAMARA, EAST OF EDEN, REFLECTIONS IN A GOLDEN EYE, REQUIEM FOR A HEAVYWEIGHT, HARPER and THE HAUNTING, among others.
JULIE enjoys reading American Literature from XIXth Century, playing tennis, cooking, gardening, knitting and listening to blues and jazz singers New Orleans style.
Playing LILIMAE won her an EMMY nomination and 2 for the SODA´s. Her most oustanding roles since she was let go from the show: two short parts in GORILLAS IN THE MIST and miniseries SCARLETT. Her last role to date has been played in the movie THE WAY BACK HOME, in 2005.
JULIE suffered a stroke years ago, though she is practically recovered from it now. She was nominated for the OSCAR as Best Supporting Actress in 1952 for THE MEMBER OF THE WEDDING, but she will always be remembered as the hesitant girl in love of the Trask brothers in EAST OF EDEN.

BORN ON JUNE 24, 1942, IN LOS ANGELES, the daughter of make-up artist JACK DUSICK, she was grown up in an art atmostphere. She used to carry the industry papers along with her math books. One afternoon, her daddy showed her an ad in Daily Variety reading: "Actors must know how to sing, singers must know kow to dance, and dancers must know how to act." He thought it would be a good experience to her to make the audition and get used to have the door slapped in her face, which, upon him, "was also a big part of the job."
He got really surprised when Michele came home with the role. The show was VINTAGE 60 and it meant the beginning of Michele´s stage career. After awhile followed BRAVO GIOVANNI, with Metropolitan opera star Cesare Siepe, and 2 year-long HOW TO SUCCEED co-starring ROBERT MORSE. Then she brought her role to its big screen version, re-titles “HOW TO SUCCEED WITHOUT REALLY TRYING”, and achieved several awards for her performance. Her big hit with HOW TO SUCCEED opened more doors to her, provided her a recording contract with Columbia Records and let her play in the club circuit.
Michele has appeared in a lot of musical shows and made specials with DICK VAN DYKE, PERRY COMO and FRED ASTAIRE, among others, and was a recurring guest star on KRAFT MUSIC HALL. She starred in Disney´s THE LOVE BUG, the top-billed movie of the year, and THE COMIC, by CARL REINER, for Columbia, co-starring DICK VAN DYKE, now has become a classic.
When Michele was offered SEESAW on Broadway (a musical adaptation of TWO FOR THE SEESAW) she just could not believe it, since she felt she belonged at Hollywood and husband actor JAMES FARENTINO and son David. Jim made the choice for her saying "we will move in to New York City". Michele´s stage success was complete and got a Drama Desk Award, an Outer Critics Award, a Circle Award and a TONY nomination as Best Actress in a Musical.
After that last tongue-in-cheek shot at the end of K.L., MICHELE has devoted her career to write, produce, direct and act in stage plays and TV shows. In 1997 she re-united with the series´ cast for a Special Miniseries, KL: BACK TO THE CUL-DE-SAC, in 1998, she got a Star on the well-known Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 2001, she got another TONY nomination for the play THE TALE OF THE ALLERGIST´S WIFE.
Other outstanding TV performances are COLOR ME PERFECT, SCANDALOUS ME, MURDER IN SHADOW MOUNTAIN, and two stints in sitcom WILL & GRACE and the movie ALONG CAME POLLY. Thanks to her deep, strong voice, she has recorded several LP´s and her performance of KAREN won her another EMMY nomination as Best Actress in a Drama Series. There also are 3 SODA´s and another TONY 1968 nomination in her resumé. About her personal life, she has been married for 18 years married with FRED RAPPAPORT and has a son from her previous marriage to JAMES FARENTINO.
