94.5 The Edge - KDGE

June 30th of 1989 The New Rock Alternative 94.5 The Edge KDGE hit the airwaves. The Edge spent 11 years on this frequency and from what I know as a kid, it was quit successful for the northern half of Dallas. Every kid in my school listened to the Edge and had a Edge bumper sticker in their locker. We were kids though, I don't think most of our opinions were ever heard by arbitron. The edge only found itself in the top 10 twice in 11 years on that frequency. The tower was located in Gainesville (Approx. 60 miles north of Dallas) which made it hard for the station do do as well as it could. The southern halves of Tarrant and Dallas counties can't even pick up the signal on a good day. The Edge needed a better signal and the 102.1 Fort Worth-based signal is one of the strongest in the market. In November of 2000 The Edge (KDGE) swapped frequencies with Magic 102 (102.1-KTXQ). 102.1 The Edge saw itself in the top 10 more times in 3 years on 102.1 then it saw in 11 years on 94.5.
