           Number 9 - Finality

        * 9 is the last of the digits
            * After the land lay fallow in the 7th year, a new sowing was made in the eighth but the old produce
               was still consumed until the 9th year (Lev. 25:22)
            * On the 9th day of the 4th month, Nebuchadnezzar finally captured Jerusalem (2 Kgs 25:3) in the
               9th year of the reign of King Zedekiah (Jer. 52:4)
            * Jesus died at the 9th hour (Mark 15:34)
            * Amen had the numerical value of 99 in Greek
            * There were 9 generations from Adam to Lamech that were destroyed by the flood when God's patience
               with sinful man was exhausted

             Number 10 - Divine Measure

            * There were 10 Commandments (Exod. 20)
            * There were 10 curtains in the tabernacle (Exod. 26:1)
            * There were 10 plagues to make up God's judgement on Egypt (Exod. 7-11)
            * An illegitimate person was excluded from the temple until the 10th generation (Deut. 23:2)
            * 10 is a significant measure in relation to the tabernacle and temple (eg: 1 Kings 7)
            * 10 kings shall hate the harlot of Revelation (Rev. 17:16)

            Number 12 - Government

            * 12 tribes of Israel
            * 12 stones of the breastplate
            * 12 months in the year
            * 12 hours in the day and 12 in the night
            * 12 disciples of Christ
            * 12 thrones (Matt. 19:28)
            * 12 legions of angels (Matt. 26:53)
            * 12,000 symbolic number of saints from each tribe (Rev. 7:5)

            Number 40 - Trial or testing

            * The rains fell 40 days and 40 nights (Gen. 7:4)
            * Israel wandered in the wilderness 40 years (Exod. 16:35)
            * Jonah warned Nineveh of the destruction that would come in 40 days (Jonah 3:4)
            * Jesus fasted for 40 days and 40 nights (Luke 4:2)

             A typical passage to consider:

            Exodus 24:15-18 - Then Moses went up on the mountain, and the cloud covered the mountain. 16 The
            glory of the LORD settled on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days; and on the seventh day he
            called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 Now the appearance of the glory of the LORD was like
            a devouring fire on top of the mountain in the sight of the people of Israel. 18 And Moses entered the
            cloud, and went up on the mountain. And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.
