"Spheres"

Like the rest of Dalia's paintings, which derive from observing nature, so are Spheres - a series of paintings inspired by cosmology. It brings the artist's impressions from the creation of celestial bodies and the relationships amongst them. In this series the spheres have different roles: they try to emerge through torn screens in order to be able to tell their stories, or they maintain relationship between each other and with their surroundings.
In the mystic lore, the sphere has a meaning of perfection and of total inclusion, which emanates from its perfect infinite shape. In the New Zohar it is said: "There exists no circle in the world which is not made from within a single point which is located in the middle and this point, which is located in the middle, takes all the light, illuminates the body, and all is enlightened." And in a different passage of the New Zohar it is said "... and everything is being connected into the sphere, and the sphere goes up and down. In one sphere there are six thousand worlds which are inside it. And this connection includes everything. This primary connection - its existence is embedded from here - and from it all connections and measurements disperse."

The symbols of the circle and the sphere are used as an artistic motive in many cultures, for example Mandalas, which serve as a mean for personal creativity as a symbol of the whole "Self". The word "Mandala" in Sanskrit means a circle, inclusion, essence. The Swiss psychoanalyst Karl Jung saw the Mandala as a representation of the "self" prototype and as an instrument to achieve the perfection of one's personality.
