In August, 2006 the Pampa SDA Church sponsored a local VBS.  It's response led to the regular meetings on Wednesday nights. The children have labeled these meetings "Church."  A typical question is "Preacher, are we having church today?"  "Church" is the same as a VBS meeting only that it meets once a week.  The time we spend together, not only brings the children to enjoy church but has also gives them opportunities to serve in their community.

During the holiday season (Thanksgiving and Christmas) the children helped to take food baskets to families in need.  And sang Christmas carols at  some local Nursing homes to sing for the residents.

Before the year ended it was brought to our attention that some children from our group had interest in baptism.  This was great to hear, so my wife and I spent time in prayer asking God to lead us.  Then we remembered that in one of our other churches we had already baptized some children, and had used the book called "Making Jesus My Best Friend." It is a ten lesson Bible study guide used to prepare 8-10 year olds for baptism.  We thought that this would be great to use, but them we thought why can't we use the lessons in the book as a guide for topics to present to the children. Essentially we could do a lesson once a week for 10 weeks, a mini evangelistic series VBS style.

The stories in this book have given us what we need to write some puppet show scripts. Children enjoy puppets and our youth get involved by manipulating puppets.  Pampa's youth have the desire to help in the church and with their enthusiasm we look forward to a fruitful year.

This mini series "Making Jesus My Best Friend," will include song service, crafts and prizes.  We have yet to start the series ( in January 31 ending March 21), but we ask that you keep us in your prayers.
