HELP THESE DOGS
copyright 2009 Carole J Sulser
4-19-09  Chloe's dog house on end.  It was like that all day.  A plastic one has been provided for temporary use.  But....why is the box on end???
4-30-09  A very pregnant Star has got out of her pen.  She was bred March 15th.   The winner of the stud lottery is the pale yellow male on top of the box.  To the right of Star is Brownie.  In the end pen, at the right, is Red Pup (far right) and one of the 2008 pups.
4-30-09 These two dogs are in danger of getting tangled up, which they did the next day.
4-30-09  Here we see Red Pup tied inside a tiny pen, able only to go in and out of the "box", which is a wood frame with a piece of plywood lying on top.  At the other end of the pen is one of the pups from 2008.  If this is the grey one that was in my garage, it's a female.  See her standing by the wooden frame leaning against the "box".  I don't know if she is tied or not.
5-01-09  Here is Star, out of her pen again, and it's raining.  She looks like a potbellied pig.  She's come full circle.  She was in a similar situation right before she had her first litter in 2005.  A little later, the owners drive away, leaving Star out with no shelter or water.  She and Brownie mill around, and then Brownie goes into his box.  Star is then caught on the fence, or the tethers are entwined, and she is stuck until the owners return, lying in the rain and the mud.   A pitiful sight.

Yellow Dog's New World
Does this look like the work of a rational mind?
5-03-09  The Spotted Dog has got loose and paid us a visit.  Here, he is leaving the gate where he was greeting one of my dogs, and is giving me menacing looks.  I wasn't sure if he was going to come toward me.  A little later, Shorty is loose, too, and the males are stalking around each other with hackles up.  Looks like another stud lottery is in progress.  Tippy, a female from 2008, and the Spotted Dog have come up to my fence; Shorty is nearby, and soon, Tip's brother (sister?) joins her at the fence.   Another noisy evening with intense barking, and possibly fighting.  Owners not home, of course.
Snagged and sleeping in the mud.
5-12-09  The Mrs. is playing musical boxes again.  Shorty has spent a couple of weeks at Yellow Dog's old box, and now he and Chloe have traded spaces.   This person is being paid to care for Chloe by her owner, who has provided her with the box, I'm sure, since it's the only decent one over there.  So why is the neighbor giving the box to one of her own dogs?  I'm guessing Chloe's owner provided bowls for her, too, but she has to eat off the ground.  And I know he bought buckle collars for her, yet she is often tied up with a choker chain.  Where have all her collars gone?  Well, Shorty was lucky for a week or so, and then the game was played again and they were switched back to where they were before.
