Viole and Katomi fought together, protecting each other from harm. Katomi was on the verge of losing herself to Deathlust, but the thought of slaying her friend kept her sane. The hybrid didn’t hesitate to attack the others of her kind, especially Cecilium, but she hesitated every time Rohga came close to battling Viole. She didn’t want to hurt her brother.

After deflecting an attack from one of Allen’s men, Katomi glanced over at Gatti, who’s stealth cloak was deactivated by a sweep of another hybrid. She felt sorry for him. If it was true that he was Leiren, then this battle would be very difficult for him. Her thoughts were all too true.

Gatti found his mind shifting from that of Leiren then that of Gatti often. The shifts nauseated him, clouding is mind so that he couldn’t think properly. He tried to focus on his adversary, but the mind of Leiren stopped him from attacking the hybrid. The mind of Gatti returned just in time for the boy to block the slash from the hybrid’s sword, but went away again just as the hybrid pushed away, getting ready for another strike. Gatti closed his eyes and shook his head to clear his mind, but the constant shifts wouldn’t leave him.

Suddenly, Gatti was knocked over by the flat of his adversary’s sword, and the boy found himself looking upon the sword point which was pressed against the cockpit shield.

"GATTI!!" Viole cried, shooting out three lethal claws.

The claws struck the cockpit of the android, slaying the hybrid within it, but while Viole was occupied in slaying the hybrid, Rohga came charging at him, sword held ready.

"BROTHER!!! NO!!!" Katomi cried, holding out her sword. She stepped into Rohga’s way and blocked her brother’s blade which was about to cut Viole in half.

Both locked swords, leaning in on the hilt.

"Get…away…Sister!!!" Rohga said through gritted teeth.

"If…you…want…to…kill…Viole…you’ll…have…to…get…past…ME!!" Katomi snarled, pushing away from Rohga.

Rohga stared at his sister for a moment, stunned. "Mekhasa…"

Katomi shook her head, trying to shake the image of her brother from her mind. "I’m not Mekhasa anymore! I’m Katomi!! KATOMI, I TELL YOU!!!" she yelled, slashing at her brother.

Rohga blocked her attack and attacked, not to hurt Katomi, but to disarm her.

Viole watched the two fight for a moment, but an oncoming hybrid caught his attention and he soon found himself in a deadly battle.

"Mekhasa!!" Rohga called, blocking another attack.

"I told you, I’m Katomi!! Mekhasa is gone!!!" Katomi roared, half sobbing. She blindly slashed out, her vision blurred by tears.

Rohga dodged and tried to disarm Katomi, but it wasn’t at all easy. "Sister…"

Katomi roughly wiped her eyes and got ready to attack again. Her brother was starting to confuse her…and she didn’t want that. Something inside her told her to get rid of the source of all her confusions, but something else told her not to. She looked at her brother’s android then saw one of Allen’s men coming up from behind. "BROTHER WATCH OUT!!!" she cried, grabbing Rohga’s android and pulling him out of the way.

The approaching guymelef slashed out with brutal force. Its pilot grinned in satisfaction. Though it didn’t hit Rohga, it had hit Katomi’s android so that the head (or rather the cockpit) had been cut in half, diagonally. Rohga and Viole (who had just slain his adversary) stared in horror as Katomi’s android fell forward.

"K-Katomi…KATOMI!!!" Viole cried. He could feel hot tears flowing down his cheeks as he ran to Katomi’s side.

Rohga’s android knelt by Katomi for a moment, then looked at the guymelef pilot which was charging at Viole. "RARGH!!!" he roared, putting his android’s arms around the guymelef.

The guymelef pilot was confused for a moment before he noticed that the android’s arms were tightening in a lethal death hug. "Kami-sama!" he gasped before the cockpit closed in on him, crushing his body to death.

Viole watched as the guymelef fell forward, its upper half crushed. He looked at Rohga. "You should have given me the honors," he said darkly.

"No. I had to kill him. He slew my sister…my only remaining family…" Rohga said.

"And my only true friend," Viole said.

Rohga chuckled darkly. "Well, I got to him first. That’s all that matters," Rohga said before backing away into the melee behind him.

Viole looked down at the pool of blood by the head of Katomi’s android. "Goodbye, my friend…" he whispered before going into battle too.

Gatti was fighting a hybrid when a something clouded his vision, filling it with an odd vision. In the vision, he saw Kara, crying over him.

"Leiren…it’s my fault…I should have been there to fight the sorcerers with you…if only I was…" Kara sobbed.

Gatti blinked, his normal vision returning. "What the…?" he said. He barely managed to block another attack and push away before another vision displayed itself before his eyes.

"Gatti…why?" Lina said, tears in her eyes. "Why did you have to…?"

The vision went away as suddenly as it had come, leaving Gatti confused. What was going on? He sent three claws through the hybrid’s android then looked down at the ground. Through a hole in the ground, he could see Lina and Kara watching him, accompanied by a man. Lina was staring up at him, anxiety reflecting in her eyes. Just then, all the androids and guymelefs froze. There was a moment of silence, then all the Hybrids except Rohga were overtaken by Deathlust. The androids combined into what seemed like a gargantuan iron hybrid. Escaflowne and the Scherezade turned to face Gatti, their swords held ready, so did Allen’s men. Rohga, Dilandau and the Dragonslayers were the only ones who were untouched my the mysterious power. The iron hybrid’s eyes glowed red and Van and company glowed with a black light.

"Do not interrupt with the fate of the two worlds. It is destiny that both are to be destroyed!" the iron hybrid said. "You shall not interfere!"

"Let us kill!! Do not interfere!! You know clearly what the fate of the worlds are, Leiren!!" Van said darkly.

"No…I won’t!" Gatti said, half conscious of what he was talking about. "Both worlds don’t have to be destroyed like this! Not yet!"

"Foolish warrior! You know what is to be done! You were there! The end is inevitable…unless…you destroy one of the three stars," Allen said.

Gatti closed his eyes and took a deep breath. "I shall…I shall destroy one of the three stars. I have decided which one is to go."

Lina and Kara stared at Gatti, holding their breaths.

"I shall destroy…myself," Gatti said, opening his eyes again.

"WHAT?!?" Viole exclaimed. "What is he talking about?!"

Rohga stared blankly at Gatti. "I don’t know…"

"Gatti, what are you saying?!" Dilandau demanded.

"The three stars are Lina, Kara and me. I have decided that I should go, Lord Dilandau," Gatti replied.

"Gatti!!!" Lina cried, she pulled herself out of the hole and ran up to Gatti’s guymelef. "Gatti! Don’t!"

"Lina…" Gatti said.

"So, you have decided to destroy yourself, eh? Well, let us help you!" the iron hybrid said.

The iron hybrid, Van, Allen and his men attacked.

"GATTIIII!!!!!" Lina cried, resisting her mother and father who were trying to pull her down the hole, back to safety.

Dilandau, Rohga and the Dragonslayers tried to help Gatti, but they were unable to reach him. They tried to cut through the large crowd, but were unable to do so.

There was a sudden flash of light from where Gatti was standing. The light engulfed all of those who were fighting him then let out another blinding flash. After the light died down, Dilandau saw that the ones the light had engulfed had disappeared, leaving Gatti’s guymelef standing alone. The blue guymelef wavered then fell to its side with a resounding boom. Lina ran out to it, as Dilandau, the Dragonslayers and Rohga got out of their mechanical armor. Dilandau and company reached Gatti, Lina had already opened the cockpit shield and pulled Gatti out. Rohga knelt beside the sobbing girl and put a paw on her shoulder.

Kara and James walked up where Lina was and knelt next to Gatti. Kara stared down at the boy sadly and said, "Leiren…"

Lina pulled Gatti’s body to her and cried. "Gatti…why? Why did you have to die? It could have been me! Why did you chose yourself?" she sobbed.

All those who stood around Lina and Gatti closed their eyes and hung their heads in sorrow, even Dilandau. There was a moment of silence, and the only thing that could be heard were Lina’s sobs. Kara opened her eyes and put her hand on Lina’s shoulder.

"He’s better off where he is now…" she managed to say. "Maybe…he’ll come back some other day…"

Lina looked at her mother. "Do you really think so?"

"He came back as this young man, didn’t he?" Kara said.

Lina managed to smile. "I suppose," she said, laying Gatti back down. She looked down at the boy’s face, a faint smile on his lips. "He’s happy…"

Viole stepped forward and knelt beside Lina. "I wonder if Katomi is happy too…do you think she would come back too?" he said.

Lina looked into Viole’s eyes and smiled. "I suppose…"

Viole smiled and looked up at the stars. "I sure hope so…"

"Well, let’s get back to the base!" Dilandau said, looking up. He looked over at Rohga. "Could you help us get back?"

Rohga nodded. "I would be more than happy to," he said.

Dilandau, Rohga and the Dragonslayers (except Viole) got back into their mechanical armor and stood, waiting for Viole.

"Well, aren’t you coming?" Rohga called.

Viole stood up and nodded at Rohga. He turned back to Lina and smiled down at her. The boy got something from his belt and handed it to Lina. "I believe this is yours."

Lina saw her charm glowing faintly in Viole’s hand. She took it and smiled up at Viole. "Thank you…"

Viole smiled in return and turned to walk away. Lina was sure than she had seen her charm shimmer brightly for a moment, but then changed her mind when she checked her charm again. It wasn’t glowing…she looked up as the guymelefs and the sole android left Earth, heading for Gaea. She looked down at where Gatti and his guymelef was, and to her surprise…Gatti and his guymelef weren’t there…. The girl smiled. Leiren…I know where you are now…you are living inside another…and that person is Viole…isn’t it?
