This is my 2006 Mustang that I purchased in August 2006. I was hoping for a Vista Blue Pony Package Mustang with Parchment interior but I couldn't find a Pony Package or a Blue V6 anywhere. After looking for a few days I found this Screamin' Yellow Mustang Deluxe with all the goodies.
Almost right away I was wishing I had held out for the Pony Package or purchased a GT. I needed the fuel economy so I didn't spend a lot of time thinking about the GT but I was really disappointed that I didn't get the Pony Package. I was told that I could have it added on at the dealership so I went over and sure enough, they would sell me the parts at a discount as part of the purchase of the vehicle.
It really dressed up the front end but I never hooked up the lights and decided to take it off until I had time to work on the wiring. I also purchased the door striping and the emblems but didn't have the 17" wheels or anti-sway bars to complete the project. It also screamed for a chin spoiler of some sort and I found one from FANG Performance that I liked.
After a while, the project was forgotten and all of those brand new parts were just sitting in the garage. I turned my attention back to my bike and my old Blazer. These projects have been on the back burner for a while and they need more help than the Mustang did so... they got some attention.
Yes, the wheel is off the front of my bike... :-) Don't worry, I put it back on, just without the fender. I'm going to be painting the entire bike and I had to pull it apart, I put the tire back on so I can push it around until I get the painting finished.
After a while, I went searching for the 17" Pony wheels on eBay a few times and only found a few but the prices were over what some of the major companies were selling their take-offs for. Rousch and Saleen were both selling a set of four for $300 - $600 bucks. I was about to write the check when the custom bug hit me with force. All the big names had some incredible body kits but all were for the GT. I only found a few V6 body kits and I wasn't very impressed. I was about to give up and just get the FANG chin spoiler with the Pony parts I'd acquired when I stumbled on the best body kit I've ever seen for the new Mustang. The shocker was that it was designed specifically for the V6 by none other than Shelby Autos. I was floored! Everything about the car was incredible. What made it even better was that it was Vista Blue and I would later learn that it also had a Parchment interior. This car was made just for ME!
This car is branded the CS6 and it is amazing!
The rear is simply a stock GT rear facia with Borla exhaust. Looks great though!
Needless to say, the Pony parts are definite dust collectors now and I had to find a way to purchase the parts to create this incredible car.

My lucky day? Not really because I got into an accident with the Mustang. My six year old daughter was with me and that concerned me quite a bit. However, she was fine, the woman we were in the accident with was fine but there was a lot of twisted metal on both sides. Her truck was badly beat up and the front of my car didn't look very good either. Luckily, I almost had the car stopped and the damage was minimal. The bad news was that I needed a front fascia, right fender, grill, hood and some other assorted pieces. It took me a little while to realize that this was the opportunity I needed to create this transition from a stock stable existence and transform my car into a real barn stormer.
Of course, it is never that easy. In order to actually get the job done I have to pay the difference and that turned out to be more money than I was prepared to part with. Now, the debate is over which hood to get and whether to upgrade the wheels or wait some more.
This is the Shelby GT-H put out by Hertz Rent-A-Car. You can see the 1966 version in the background. This car has a traditional looking 17" painted five spoke wheel that reminds me of the Thrust wheels. The same ones used in the 1968 movie "Bullitt" that is now so popular. It also has the new pre-production Shelby hood just like the CS6 pictured above.
This is the new production Shelby GT released in 2007. It looks like a stock GT or California Special front fascia with a new production hood that sports a hood scoop and the addition of 18" polished "Bullitt" wheels.
Both of these hoods are possibilities but I definitely want the more aggressive CS6 front fascia.
I also have to decide to run the stock V6 wheels with 215mm tires on the car for a while and come back for the 20" American Racing/Shelby five spoke wheels as seen on the CS6 with 255mm tires or purchase the 18" polished which I can put on the car now with 235mm tires and the production GT hood with scoop.
So, it is decision time... and it isn't easy.
What will the Bright Stallion look like when she emerges from the Shelby stables in Tampa? Time will only tell but the CS6 which is now being sold as a CS8, sure looks GREAT.
