This K5 was originally called to duty by Lois Dryfus Natural Gas Company in Oklahoma City in June of 1988. In February of 1996 it was sold to a young man from San Diego that was stationed at Tinker Air Force base. He got out of the Air Force and attended college in OKC. In 1997 the Blazer was lifted four inches and fitted with 33x12.5R15s on all four corners.
Afterward, he joined the Coast Guard and took the Blazer with him to Alaska. While in Alaska the Blazer was painted two-tone Competition Yellow and white.
He then transferred to Hawaii and was stationed on Oahu. In January of 2001 he had several high performance parts installed on the crate motor.
Several months later he chose to part with the K5 and put it up for sale. This is where I come in. I saw the Blazer in a weekly advertiser and called him right away. That night I drove the K5 and within a week had purchased it. I picked it up on my wife's birthday. (Now how many women will let you do that?) Of course she loves it just as much as I do. She borrows it occasionally and really loves driving it.

The Blazer has a four inch lift and rides on BFG Radial All Terrain 33x12.5/R15s and is supported by dual shocks up front with dual shock steering stabilizers to keep things on the straight and narrow.
The otherwise stock air cleaner has been painted to
match the rest of the exterior. A nice detail on a budget.
It has a GM Goodwrench Crate 350 under the hood that has been outfitted with a Crane Cam, Edelbrock Performer intake manifold and heads, JBA exhaust headers, and an MSD ignition system.
The interior has been left mostly stock but a Pioneer head unit replaces the stock stereo unit. A twelve disk CD changer ads hours of listening pleasure without fumbling for disks on the beach or the trail. There are two, four-inch JBL speakers in the front doors and two, six-inch JBL speakers beside the back seats with a set of Kicker eight-inch subwoofers in the cargo area driven by a pair of California amplifiers that comfortably sit where the stock 4x10s use to be. Sure you could get more "thump" out of larger speakers but where would you put your gear for the beach?

This K5 Blazer has the perfect blend of performance, good looks, and comfort. There is stuff that a true 4x4 should have on it like a 1500lb custom bumper with a 9000lb Warn winch, 60" high lift jack, a CB radio and the like.
Then there are the creature comforts that are more for toolin' around town like carpet, an air conditioner that works and plenty of stereo sound for this Oklahoma boy that is living it up on the island of Oahu.
If you look closely, you'll not only notice that I really need
to get into shape and loose my farmer John tan but that
Diamond Head is just to my left and Waikiki is to the left of that.
