190.1-Elizabeth YEASLEY, b. __?, probably in Berks Co., PA, d/o Michael and Magdalena (___?) YEASLEY, d. prob. in Allegany Co., MD, m. Christopher BOTEMARKLE, b. abt. 1772, d. 1823. According to family tradition Christopher was born in Germany. A son, Henry, states in the 1880 census of Allegany Co., that his father was born in Dunstadt (or Dumstadt). The Allegany family, by the time the history of the county was written, had evidently long forgotten the ancestry of the Elizabeth YEASLEY, wife of Christopher. Upon arriving in Allegany Co., Christopher bought two large tracts of land from Thomas Beall, lying near Bedford Road, four miles east of Cumberland, paying one hundred and fifty pounds sterling cash for each tract. In 1793, he is listed on the tax list paying taxes on 100 acres of a tract named 'Pine Grove'. On 11 May 194, Christopher is part of a committee to organize the first Lutheran church, on the northeast corner of Centre and Baltimore Streets in Cumberland. In the history of Allegany Co., only four children are listed. To this list the compiler had added Magdalena, based on the circumstancial evidence that as far as can be determined this was the only BROTEMARKLE family in the county, the marriage date is in line with the marriage dates of the other children, and Elizabeth YEASLEY had a sister Magdalena, for whom this child may have been named.
