2032-Nicholas WALLINGFORD, b. c1610, prob. near Southhampton, ENG, s/o ___? and ___ (GORE?) WALLINGFORD, d. c1681, at sea, or as a captive of unknown forces as it were, m. 30 Aug 1654, MA, (2033) Sarah TRAVIS, b. c1636, d/o Henry and Bridget (____?) TRAVIS (see below) Nicholas was born probbly near Southhampton, ENG, and it appears that his mother was a sister of William GORE of Nether Wallop, who made a will in 1656. He was a port boy, servant of Stephen Kent, who came in the ship "Confidence', 24 Apr 1638, to Newbury, MA. He bought from Henry TRAVIS, a farm, 1 Oct 1659, and moved to Bradford. He was made a Free Mason in 1670. Nicholas was the first of the family to come to the Americas. He left a widow and thirteen children when he was lost at sea in 1681. One account says that he was taken by Barbary Corsairs (pirates), and never returned. (??????SOURCE) Children:

, d. MA?, m. (4067) Bridget ____?. The name comes from TREVIERS in Normandy. Ranulp de CLINCHAMP in 1138 took the name TRAVERS. The name appears in the Doomesday Book. Henry or Henric came from London, England to Ipswich, MA in 1634, removed to Newbury, MA in 1635. he returned to England in 1648, leaving in New England, his wife, son, and a daughter. The son James resided in Gloucester, MA in 1667. (NWNEB1)
