60.1 Nathaniel H(enry) TABLER, b. 13 Mar 1809, Berkeley Co., VA, s/o Philip Henry and Mary (OLLER) TABLER (60), d. 24 May 1885, Grundy Co., IL, m. 1st. 8130, Delaware Co., OH, Mary Ann CRYDER, b. 1 Jul 1812, Hopetown, Ross Co., OH, d/o Henry CRYDER, d. bef. 1850, Grundy Co., IL; m. 2nd., 11 Nov 1850, Grundy Co., IL, Hannah M. BARBER (nee CRYDER), b. 1827, PA, d/o Jacob and Betsy CRYDER; m. 3rd.  in 1877, Susan PAULDING, b. Waynesboro, Franklin Co., PA, d/o Franklin M. and Sarah (ROGERS) PAULDING, b. c1844. If the records are correct, Nathaniel and Susan may have been divorced, unusual for the time, but not unheard of, for she m. again, 13 Oct 1888, Will Co., IL, Charles F. WASHBURN; m. 4th., before 1881, Susan JOHNSON wd/o William JOHNSON. Nathaniel was a farmer, who first migrated in 1830 from Berkeley Co., VA, to Delaware Co., OH, settling on the Scioto River on 200 acres his father bought. Philip Henry, the father, never came to OH, dying in Berkeley Co. In 1833, along with Henry CRYDER,  his father-in-law, and Zach WALLEY, another son-in-law of Henry CRYDER, migrated to Au Sable Twp., Grundy Co., IL. At this time, they supposedly were the only residents in the township. The first settlement in Au Sable Twp., may have been made by Salmon RUTHERFORD, possibly a cousin to Nathaniel TABLER through his aunt, Mary "Polly" TABLER who m. Archibald RUTHERFORD, and settle in Fairfield Co., OH. Nathaniel farmed in Au Sable until 1876, then went to Minooka, living there until 1882. He moved in 1882 to Morris, running the Cottage Hotel, boarding students at the Normal School. He was Methodist and Democrat. As well as can be determined from the history and census records of Grundy Co., he had 13 children, however Matthew hasn't been confirmed to date. In the 1850 through 1870Census, he was farming in Au Sable Twp., it states that all the children were born in OH. In 1850. In 1850 Mary A. Moffett 18, b. NY was in the home; in 1860 Maria Trotter 51, b. IL, was a helpe, and in 1870, Elizabeth CRIDER 63, b. OH, were in the home. This conflicts with almost all other records. Of the children, Joseph was b. in Berkeley Co., VA, and David was b. in Delaware Co., OH. All other children were born in Au Sable Twp., Grundy Co., IL. Two other children, Matthew and Isaiah C. TABLER have been named in some sources. To date, I have been able to find any information to verify their existance. Nathaniel is buried in Au Sable Cem., Grundy Co.
