Elizabeth TOWNLEY m. 1st., 1 May 1616, Richard HALSTEAD of Windlehouse. Christopher SMITH was from Stonirakes, ENG. In the 1660 pole tax for Friercliffe, Christopher SMITH is listed along with wife Elizabeth, and sons Richard and Thomas. Elizabeth TOWNLEY HALSTEAD SMITH has living at Windlehouse in 1623, when she christened a daughter on 1 May. She had three children by her first husband, Richard HALSTEAD, probably her cousin. She had five sons by Christopher SMITH. In her will written 28 Jan 1675/6, and probated 5 Jan 1670/80, she names all five sons, Elizabeth SCARBOROUGH of Summerhouse, County York, and Blanche SMITH (d/o John SMITH), bapt. 7 Mar 1651/2.
