John was a potter in Frederick, Frederick Co.. Ann Maria's mother, Elizabeth, is living with them in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 census. Thomas OTT, the child in the 1850-1870 census, must have been the child of the first marriage. This Thomas, and his brother or half-brother are both potters, living in Frederick in 1880 with an aunt, Susannah KEPHART, age 68, who is keeping house. Susannah's age fits the sister of their mother, Ann Maria. NOTE: the ages of the children in the census records are confusing to say the least. In the 1870 census, he was a policeman. He was appointed market manager in Frederick by the mayor. They are buried in Mt. Olivet Cem., Frederick, Frederick Co., along with childen, Ellen V., Isabel J., Mary A., Clara S., and Ida L. In 1880, they were living in the Baltimore.
