Catherine _____?, b. 7 Dec 1779, MD, d. 22 May 1862, Frederick Co., MD. Very little known about John Henry SIMM. He was a hatter in Frederick City. He and his wife are buried in Mt. Olivet Cem., Frederick. Most of the records refer to his children.In 1820 there were 4 males 0 to 10, 2 females 9-10, and 1 female 10 to 18. In 1850, Catherine had Catheine CROWELL, and Edward and his family in the household. In 1860, she is living with a Ellen PENELL. Henry and Catherine are buried in Mt. Olivet Cem., Frederick. An obituary states he was buried in the German Reformed Cem. (MDFRB2, 11 p99, 24 p60,62,64,71,75, 29, 32, 41 Vol. 1 p583, MDFR3, 5, 8, 9, 11) Children:

In Her first two children in 1850, were in the home of her brother John T. SINN. ; Catherine m. 2nd., 11 Dec 1850, Moses S. KENNY, in KY. Moses d. 3 Jul 1852, in KY, of  cholera. Catherine after the death of John CROMWELL, returned to Frederick Co., MD, and was living with her mother in 1850. Evidently, she returned to KY, and m. the 2nd. time. In 1870, Flavious STURGESS, and his sons, John Thomas, Charles Edward, and George were residing with Flavious' uncle, John George SINN. John was appointed Superintendent of Water Works and Water Rent Collections in 1864. In 1860 no occupation was listed. In 1870, he was clerking in a store, and living in the 5th. Ward of Frederick, Flavious and three sons, Thomas, Edward, and George are in the household,  and in 1880, he is listed as a toll gate keeper. By 1910, he was a salesman for a can manufacturer in Baltimore. In 1920, he was in to can manufacturing, and was living in Crisfield, Somerset Co., MD. (MDBC11, 12, MOSO13) Children:

486.3a5 John Thomas SINN, b. 27 Feb 1817, Frederick Co., MD, d. 3 May 1894, Frederick Co., m. 31 May 1838, Frederick Co., by Rev. J. Zacharias, Catherine LOREDER, b. 12 Nov 1818, d. 6 Jun 1888, age 70, d/o Philip LOREDER. In the 1850 census, he was a livery stable keeper in Frederick town. In the household were Matilda E. and Steven CROMWELL, his sister's children. John and wife, Catharine are buried in Mt. Olivet Cem., Frederick. In 1870, he is listed as a dealer in second hand goods. John is an interesting character, both in his business and personal life. In 1847, he was elected to the commission council in the 2nd. Ward of Frederick. He was Capt. of the United Guard, but resigned that office in 1859, but it was not accepted, and he withdrew the resignation. On 28 Jun 1858, he had a fight with a Samuel Phelby. The next year, on 3 Jun, he had a fist fight with a George William Ulrich, on the Frederick County Bank corner, and was fined by the mayor of Frederick for rioting. Ulrich was slightly bloody but otherwise uninjured. On 3 Aug 1857, he was building a large carriage house and stable (180 feet long) next to the Hallerstown Bridge on the hill running west from Market Street. In that same year, he arrested a man named Yates for passing counterfeit bank notes, by what authority it is not stated. There are several deed items: he bought a house for $840 at an estate sale on Wed. 13 Oct 1858; he bought a lot in Frederick, part of the estate of John Shelling on 26 Feb1859 at public sale, and purchased part of the Fritchie property in May 1871 at Public Sale for #415 in which he in turn sold to James Hopwood. He sold a lot and home to Charles Miller for $3000 on 31 Aug 1866. In 1880 he was farming in Buckeystown, Frederick Co., with Mary 16, a granddaughter, Maria Jones a servant and Read Jones 6m, in the houshold. Charles was a livery stable keeper in Frederick Co., MD in 1870. By 1880, at age 37, he listed himself as a retired merchant. Charles and Kate are buried in Mt. Olivet Cem., Frederick, MD.
