Sometime after their marriage in 1827, they migrated to OH. They possibly moved to another county prior to Seneca Co., but at least after 1860, they were in Seneca. There is an Amos NICHOLS in Knox Co., OH in 1840. On 12 Dec 1831, Amos, sold land on Back Creek, Berkeley Co., VA, he had received from his father Robert, to John C. MILLER, his step-father. This sale took place after the move to OH. In the census records, Amos is listed as a laborer, and probably lived in Tiffin most of  his life. An A. NICHOLS is listed as a town marshal in Tiffin in 1852. It is not known if this is Amos Sr or Jr. Amos and Mary are buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, in Seneca Co. In the 1850 census, a Catherine Soapher, 18, b. VA, is residing in the home. Possibly a domestic servant or a relative of Mary NICHOLS.
