The Family of Rebecca Anne E. MORROW
 and George B. H. FOREMAN

16.1-Rebecca Anne E. MORROW, b. 6 Jul 1833, Summit Point, Jefferson Co., WV, d/o Joseph and Sarah Ellen LOCK MORROW, d. 29 Dec 1864, Montgomery Co., MO, m. 13 May 1853, Jefferson Co., WV, George B. H. FOREMAN, b. 21 May 1834 in VA or MD, s/o Jacob & Eliza LOCK FOREMAN, d. 3 Aug 1864, Montgomery Co., MO. Both are buried in Jonesburg, Montgomery Co., MO, Cemetery. Rebecca and George were located using a deed () from Jefferson Co. VA(WV), in which her father Joseph settled the estate of his late wife Sarah Ellen, heir of John LOCK. There are no living descendant of this family, and information is sketchy. There was a long association between the LOCKS and FOREMANS, both in VA, and previously in MD, also the point of contact for the MORROW family. A lot of the FOREMANS, en masse, moved to Missouri, George and Rebecca with them. In 1860, they were living with George's brother, W. T. FOREMAN, in Wellsburg, MO. By 1864, both were dead, within 5 months of each other.  Records that would reveal cause of death could not be located. Their youngest child died a year after their deaths. They are buried beside the grave of Dr. James Milton FOREMAN, a prominent doctor in Montgomery Co., and another of George's brothers.(O2, MOMO1, WVJE1, WVJE6-Book 27 p356/7, 11-12,  Children:

16.1a Sarah Ellen L. FOREMAN, b. 22 Nov 1854, Summit Point, WV., d. Sun., 8 Jun 1941, at Old Folks Home, Kirkwood, due to tramautic pneumonia from fractured ribs, St. Louis Co., MO, m. 26 Jan 1882, in Louisiana, Pike Co., MO, to George A. GASTON, b. Dec 1851 IL, d. 1917, St. Louis, MO. After the death of her parents, Sarah Ellen went to Louisiana, MO, to live with with her uncle, W. H. MORROW. She and George sold property  for $292.20 to W. H. MORROW in Louisiana, MO on 26 Jul 1886, at which time they must have moved to St. Louis. In the 1900 and 1910, they were listed in the St. Louis census. In the St. Louis City directories, she is listed at Ella, a widow by 1919, living with her son Hamilton, a packer, and later a clerk at St. Louis News Co., residing on North Market Street, and Clayton, MO, respectively. By 1939, she was residing on S. Kirkwood Rd. Both her and her husband are buried in Valhalla Cemetery, St. Louis, MO, which is near Kirkwood. Pearl Sydney, whose memory was sketchy, provided leads that lead to the finding of this family (MONP4, MOPI4-5, 9-10, MOR1 #38078PI15, WVJE2, MOSL1-3). Child:

16.1a1 Stephen Hamilton GASTON, b. Nov 1882, probably in St. Louis, d. 14 Jan 1923, St. Louis, MO, never married, and is buried with his parents in Valhalla Cemetery, St. Louis. Stephen met an untimely death in St. Louis on 14 Jan 1923. It was proposed by authorities that his body, found on the tracks of the Creve Coeur Streetcar Line, had been placed there to conceal a robbery. The newspaper accounts describe the condition of the clothing (out turned pockets). When the body was found, he had a pair of women's shoes tied around his wrist by the laces and apparently his shoes were missing. A cousin later stated that Stephen habitually wore women's shoes and stockings because his feet were very small, and he had difficulty in being fitted with men's shoes. He is listed as a packer (meat?, boxes? what?) and later as a clerk in the St. Louis City Directories. He was member of Benton Council No. 183, Royal Arcanum, Louisiana, Pike Co., MO. (Newspaper accounts (MONP5-16, 17 Jan 1923, MONP6-15 Jan 1923, MONP7-19 Jan 1923, MOSL3)

16.1b Ida FOREMAN, b. 1 Sep 1857, VA (probably Summit Point), d. 19 Dec 1927, St. Louis, MO, buried Valhalla Cemetery, St. Louis, beside her sister. Ida never married. After the death of her parents, she was sent back to live with her grandfather Joseph MORROW. In the 1900 she was in living in Kabletown District of Jefferson Co., WV, with a relative of her mother, Elisha LOCK. By 1910, she is aged 52, and in St. Louis with George and Alla GASTON. Her death certificate states that she was living with Ella GASTON on Eades Ave., St. Louis, at the time of her death in 1927, and that she had been an officer manager. INTERVIEW:
16.1a Pearl SYDNEY, Anthony, KS, gave me the old address of Ella GASTON. She remembered that this cousin was the same age range as her mother-in-law, Mineola MORROW SYDNEY, and that she was a 1st. cousin. She believed she had attended her funeral in St. Louis. Pearl thought the son was killed in a Railway Express robbery. Actually it turned out he was killed after a robbery on a street car. (PI15)
