160 Johann Conrad LICKLIDER, b. 21 Dec 1724, Austrian Tyrol, in the Rhineland, Germany, d. 5 Sep 1781, Lewistown, Frederick Co., MD, m. c. 1745, (161) Maria Barbara MULLER, d/o Hans Jacob  and Maria Magdalena (GERBER) MULLER. Johann Conrad LICKLIDER came to PA about 12 Oct 1741 when he took the qualifying Oaths to the Government. He is listed as age 21. He probably settled first in Oley Twp, Philadelphia Co., PA, which became Berks Co. in 1752. He appeared on teh 1752 Tax List in colebrookdale Twp., Berks Co. He probably came to MD c1763, when he contributed 10 shillings to building find of the Frederick  Church. On 17 Nov 1764, he bought 200 acres called Green Springs which included buildings, orchards, pastures, and fences from Samuel Beall Jr. 300 pounds in Frederick Co., MD, plus three other tracts; First Dividend, Small Street, and Wonderland. He d. intestate. He is buried near Lewistown, west of Hessong Bridge Rd., and immediately south of Little Hunting Creek and Black's Mill Road. His wife Maria Barbara administered his estate through a deed. In this deed, the eldest son Jacob LICKLIDER, heir in law, of VA, for 5 shillings, did sell to his mother, and two brothers, Philip and Conrad, all for of Conrad's lands in Frederick Co., and upon her death. these lands were to be divided between the two sons. 160.11 Lewis LICKLIDER, b. 7 Aug 1768, Frederick Co., MD, d. 24 Jan 1847, age 78y 9m 17d,  Montgomery  Co., OH. Buried Creager Cem., Dayton Twp., Montgomery Co, OH. Montgomery Co. records indicate he is buried in David's Church Cem, which is the same as Creager Cem. Lewis was one of the founders of David's Church, in Van Buren Twp., now the Church of Christ. It was formerly the German Reformed and Lutheran. On Nov 1806, Lewis was on a jury in the case of the state vs. Samuel Morrison for thief of hogs. In 1808, he inventoried and appraised the estate of Christian Prime, and on 29 Apr 1812, the estate of John Fryberger. He is listed on a Montgomery Co., OH, Tax List as a resident proprietor.
