Wilfred was nominated and elected by the Whig Party from Washington Co., MD to the MD House of Delegates. Wilfred drown, probably in the Potomac River at Williamsport, Washington Co. 84.8d1 Mary A. MCCARDELL b. 23 May 1842, d. (n.d.), Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD, m. Abraham SEIDENSTRICKER b. 25 May 1842, d. 24 Nov 1903, Hagerstown. In 1920, Mary was living in Hagerstown, with her sister Lucretia MCCARDELL in the household. (MDWA17, MDWAB2 p698, 8v6). No children to date (2008)

84.8d2 Adrain C. MCCARDELL b. Mar 1845 (25 Dec in Bio), MD, d. 1832, Frederick, Frederick Co., MD, m. Apr 1872, Alfanetta R. STONEBRAKER, b. Jan 1847 (1848 on gravestone), Frederick, d. 1923, Frederick, d/o Samuel and Rebecca (KNODE) STONEBRAKER. He clerked for George Bowman, a confectioner in Hagerstown. During the Civil War he worked in Frederick. He then moved to Funkstown, Washington Co., working for Beachley and Firey. In 1869, he bought a confectionary store in Frederick. He operated this store, and a wholesale confectionary business in Frederick. In 1870, he lived in the 4th. Ward of Frederick, with Clinton KNODE, his cousin, also a confectioner, and John s. Shuckman 19, a baker, b. Hesse Damstadt, GER. In 1880, he has 5 boarders and 2 servants in the household. In 1900 Zella Green 23, is a servant in the home. In 1910 through 1920, he is living in 2nd. Pct., Frederick. IN 1910 son Wilfred is listed as a salesman and son Ernest is operating the wholesale house. He was president of the Frederick Co. National Bank in Frederick from 1891 to 1904, and president of the Businessman's Association of Frederick. In 1893 he was director of the Women's College in Frederick, and he was direcctor of the Mutual Fire Insurance Co., in Frederick in 1909. Thy were members of the Evangelical Reformed Church, and they are buried in Mt. Olivet Cem., Frederick. (MDFR10-14, MDFRB2, MDFRB12 p1248, MDWAB2 p698) Children:

In 1880, he was a printer in Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD, with Rachel BEIRSHING 27, his sister-in-law in the home. he once worked at the Government Printing Office in Washington, DC, but uncertain if this was before or after 1880. 84.8d4 Odello D. MCCARDELL b. 24 Jul 1853, MD, d. 18 Apr 1935, Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD, m. 1st. Ida M. BREWSTER (Source FH9 says BREWER) b. 20 Jan 1858, d. 20 Nov 1892, Hagerstown; m. 2nd. Margaret A. BREWSTER d. 8 Nov 1834, Hagerstown (probably the sister of Ida). In 1900 through 1920, Odello was clothing merchant living in the 4th. Ward of Hagerstown. In 1900, his sister, Lucretia, was living with them. IN 1910, Myrtle Myers 26, was a servant in the house. He was a member of the firm of MCARDELL Bothers. MCCARDELL b. 31 Aug 1854 (1851 on gravestone), Williamsport Dist., Washington Co., MD, d. 22 Sep 1834 (prob. 1934), Hagerstown, Washington Co., m. 23 Feb 1876, Susan CRANWELL b. 26 Apr 1855, d. 1936, Hagerstown, d/o Charles W. CRANWELL of Hagerstown. He worked for various merchants as a young man. In 1883, he and brother, Odello, formed the firm of MCCARDELL Brothers, selling clothing and shoes. He was president of the Merchant's and Manufacturers Association founded in 1896. He was director of the Hagerstown Bank; the Washington and Franklin Railroad Company, the Tygart River Lumber Company, the Tygart River Mercantile Company, the Glady Fork Lumber Company of Randolph Co., WV, and the Middleburg and Hagerstown Turnpike Company. He was a trustee of the Washington County Hospital Association. Starting in 1886 he was the publisher of J. Gruber Hagerstown Almanac. He served as a member of Hagerstown Water Board and Supervisor of elections. They were members of Zion Reformed Church in Hagerstown, and he was a member of the Knights of Pythias. They are buried in Zion Reformed Cem. (MDWAB2 p698) Children:
