(WVMNB1). David, a farmer, migrated from Monongalia Co., VA, to Ritchie Co., VA, where he married. In 1840 they were in Monongalia Co., WV. In 1850, they were in Doddridge Co., VA, but returned to Ritchie Co., where they were living in 1860-1870. David and Jane are living with daughter, Susan WALTERS in the 1880 census. They are buried in Indian Creek Baptist Cemetery in Washburn, WV. (FH26, 30, WVDO1, WVMNB1, WVMN4, WVRTB4, WVRT2-3, 5) Children:

HECK, b. 27 Apr 1836, VA, d. 28 Oct 1928, age 82y 1m 6d, Ritchie Co., WV, m. 29 May 1873, Ritchie Co., WV, William Jasper MOATS, b. 8 Nov 1849, VA, d. 4 Dec 1935,age 86y 26, Ritchie Co., WV, s/o Henry and Effa (STARR) MOATS, natives of WV. Henry was a farmer and miller, owned his own mill in Ritchie Co., WV. From the 1880 census, it would appear that Elizabeth was previously married. Anna B. KUNKUL is listed as a step-daughter of William MOATS in the 1880 census. He was miller in Grant District, Ritchie Co., and was living there in 1910.(WVRTB1, 3, 4, 5, WVRT4, 6) Children:

E. and Henrietta WALTERS, natives of Saxony and Prussia, Germany, respectively. Charles was a farmer in Ritchie Co., WV. In 1870 Charles was farming in Ritchie Co. In 1910 and 1920, they were living in Coal District, Harrison Co., WV. In 1920, a Howard MARTIN, b. c1889, auto mechanic, and A. E. Edgar was acting postmaster Cairo, WV, 1 Nov 1923; appointed postmaster 18 Dec 1923, served until 28 Feb 1929. He was also a rural school eacher in Grant District, Ritchiel Co., WV in 1920. John was a farmer in Murphy District in 1880. Ritchie Co., WV. He is buried in Indian Creek Cem. In 1880, they had a housekeeper, Susan Elliott, b. c1820 in VA, living in the household. In 1910 Sarah, a widow, was living in Grant District, Ritchie Co., with Howard and Winnie and their children, Dessie P., Loyd, and Hazel N. NUZUM are in the household. From Doddridge Co., WV, they moved to Gypsum Twp., Saline Co., KS before 1880. Have not located this family beyond the 1880 census. In the 1900 Pierce Co., WA census, there is a William A. ORRAHOOD, age 41, b. VA (par. b. VA), who is a patient in Western Washington Hospital for the Insane. He fits the profile for Hester's son, William. The cildren William, Mary, Francis, and Alvin are named in the will of their grandfather, Alexander ORRAHOOD. WILL (KSSL4, WVDOB1, 2, WVDO2, 3) Children:
