Philip was a farmer and early settler in Sullivan Co. In both the 1860 and 1870 census, he was living in Jackson Twp. In 1860, John Bennett 11, b. IN was in the household. Several children report that they were b. in Franklin Co., IN. It is possible that they at one time lived in that county prior to moving to Sullivan Co. (FH26, 30, INSUB5 p704, INSUB5, 6, WVMN7) Children:

202.1c1 Michael HECK, b. 1826, VA, d. bef. 1880, m. 4 Jan 1857, Sullivan Co., IN, Eliza LISTON, b. c1826 IN. Her parents were natives of OH. Michael was a farmer in Curry Twp., Sullivan Co. After his death in 1872, his widow and children are found first in Jackson Twp., Sullivan Co., then  in Linton Twp., Vigo Co., IN. Also in the household in 1880, was a William A. RILEY, grandson, b. c1875, probably the s/o Nancy and William RILEY, their daughter. Michael is buried in Friendship Cem., Sullivan Co., IN. (INSUB3, 6, INSU4-6, INVO4) Children:

Daniel is listed in census records as a farmer and a carpenter who operates his own shop. In the early census records he is living in Prairieton Twp., Vigo Co., but by 1920, had removed to Terra Haute, Vigo Co. INVOB1, 2, 3, INVO5, 6, 7) Children:

202.1c1d6-William HECK, appears in the 1920, 3rd. Ward, Terra Haute, Vigo Co., IN  census, with a wife, S____?, b. c1902. He is described as a cleaner?. (INVO7)

202.1c3 Mary HECK, b. 1829, m. Uzziah BENNETT. The marriages was not found in Sullivan Co., IN.

202.1c4 Susanna "Susan" HECK, b. 1830, m. 16 Apr 1854, Sullivan Co., IN, Erastus BENNETT.(INSUB3)

202.1c5 Justus HECK, b. 1832, Franklin Co., IN, d. 15 Dec 1907, age 75, Farmersburg, Sullivan Co., m. 1st., 30 Jul 1851, Sullivan Co., IN, Sophia PEARCE (or PIERCE),  b. c1834; m. 2nd. Lizzie _____?; m. 3rd., 23 Feb 1896, Vigo Co., IN,  Pricie (Pricey) WELCH. To date (2005), the census records for Justus have been elusive. In the farmer's directory, in 1853, he owns 155 acres , 1 and 1/2 mi, east of Farmersburg, IN, (INSUB1, 2, 3, 7, INSU5) Children:

202.1c6 Sarah HECK, b. 1834, m. Elezar BENNETT, b. 1839, IL, owned 180a in Jackson Twp., Sullivan Co., IN. The marriage was not found in Sullivan Co. (INSUB7)

202.1c7 Amanda HECK, b. 1836, IN, m. 1st., 27 Jun 1857, Sullivan Co., IN, George FOX; m. 2nd. Chauncey ROSE, b. c1833, NY. In 1880, they were living in 2nd. Ward, Flint, Genesee Co., MI.  Amanda probably had at least 1 child by George FOX. A James FOX, age 22, is living in the household of Martha and Augustus THRALLS  in 1880. Amands's first child by Chauncey ROSE was b. in 1860, indicating that George FOX died prior to that date. (INSUB3,  MIGE4) Children:

202.1c9 John HECK, b. Dec. 1839, Franklin Co. IN, m. 13 Mar 1862, Sullivan Co., IN, Mary E. JOHNSON, b. Dec 1839, OH, d. 4 Feb 1817, Farmersburg, Sullivan Co. Her parents were natives of OH. John owned 120 acres of land in Curry Twp. in 1839. They are buried in Nye's Cemetery, Sullivan Co. In the 1870 and 1900 census, they were living in Jackson Twp., Sullivan Co. John was Civil War Vet., Co., D, 43rd. IN Vol. Inf. (INSUB1, 3, 6, 7, INSU6, 8) Children:

SMOCK, b. 20 Nov 1871 (1872 in census), d. 1950, Sullivan Co., s/o Samuel C. and Elizabeth (COLLINS) SMOCK. George lived in Sullivan Co., where he owed 16 acres in Jackson Twp. They lived in Jackson  Twp., Sullivan Co. In 1880, Thomas Godwin, age 20, b. IN, was residing in the household as a farm laborer. (INSUB6, 7, INSU1, 3) Children:

202.1c11 Martha HECK, b. 1844, IN, m. 7 May 1859, Sullivan Co., IN. Augustua THRALLS, b.1841, Vigo Co., IN. His parents were natives of MD and KY. They lived in Jackson Twp., Sullivan Co., IN. In 1880, James FOX, nephew, age 22, b. IN,  is residing in the household. He must be the child of Amanda HECK by her first husband. (see 202.1c7). Augustus THRALLS owned 120 acres in Jackson Twp. (INSUB1, 3, INSU6) Children:

In 1875, Richard owned a hardware in Dugger, Sullivan  Co. By 1900, he was located in Marion Twp., in Lawrence Co., IN, and by 1910, they were in Sugar Loaf Twp., St. Clair Co., IL. In 1820, Richard was living with son, Paul M., in Bollinger Co., MO. Cora must have died between 1910 and 1920. (ILSR1, INLW1, INSUB3, 7, MOBG1) Children:
