He moved to Champaign Co., IL when a young man. He was a blacksmith and farmer. In 1830, Noah was living in Champaign Co., with 2 males under age 5 (probably John, and Joseph),  1 male age 20-30 (Noah) and 1 female 20-30 (Sarah Jane). He bought 73 acres of land in Clark co., OH, where they remained until 1853, when they moved to Pike Co., IL. Not satisfield with the area, they came back to Coles Co., (now Douglas Co.), IL, where Noah bought 120 acres of land in Bowdre Twp.. The farm had alog canin, but Noah and sons built another hewed log cabin to accomodate the family. both Noah and his wife d. in this cabin. His wife was a member of the Methodist Church. He went to Clark Co., OH and in about 1853 went to work for a man named Osborn, a relative of wife, and worked there 6 years before his marriage. In 1852, the traveled to Pike Co., IL by covered wagon. He rented a farm for 2 years when the railroad land opened in 1854, he bought 40 acres for $10 an acre. He added two additonal parcels of 40 acres and 30 acres located between Embarras and Scattering Creek. He build alog cabin and since that time 2 frame houses. He was drafted in 1864 into Co., E. 10th. IL Vol. Inf. He was with Sherman in his March to the sea. He contacted malaria in SC and was trasported to a NY hospital for 3 months. He was discharged in 1865. He returned to Douglas Co., by 1880. He continued to farm  until 1908-1909. He is buried in Broadus Cem., Douglas Co. (FG1, ILDGB1-3, 4 p701, ILDG4, OHCL1) Children:

In the 1879 census there is a child C. F. age 6, female. the age fits Charlotte in the 1880 census. He then bought 40 acres with a log cabin where he lived until c1888. In 1888/89 he took his invalid daughter to the mountains of MO where he lived until c1892. Upon his return he lived wit his brother, Harrison. In 1910, he is in Harrison's home, and in 1920, he was living with son Adam. He was a member os Scattering Fork Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee for 20y. She came to Arcola Twp. in 1865 to live with Mrs. Rhinerson, a sister of Johnson. After the death of his father, Naoh, his mother continued to live there in 1870 and 1880, and after her death, he bought out the other heirs. Also in the home is Louisa's father..They are members of the Methodist Church. Harris is listed as attending Scattering Fork and Embury Chapel. Harrisonis buried in Broadus Cemetery, Douglas Co.
