The Family of Jacob CRONE
and Catherine _____?

242.8a Jacob CRONE b. 12 Dec 1796, Frederick Co., MD, d. 25 Aug 1879, Frederick Co., MD, of paralysis, m. 2 Oct 1816, Frederick Co., MD, Catherine WEDDLE, b. Aug 1809, d. 28 Mar 1888, 78y 7m 28d, Frederick Co., MD. Jacob and his wife, are buried in the Reformed Cem., Middletown, Frederick Co. The Catherine already mentioned, was probably his 2nd. wife, since she is too young to be the mother of his first 4 children. His first wife may have also been named Catherine WEDDLE, who he m. 28 May 1834. No marriages, cemetery records are available at this time to prove this one way or the other. The list of children are based on available birth and baptism records, census records that show a brother or sister relationship between the first 4 children and the 11 later children. The census records indicate that Jacob was a farmer in Middletown District, Frederick Co., MD. He may have had as many as 23 children. (FH35, MDFRB4, 6, 7, 22-23, MDFR2, 3, 8-11) Children:

Snurr, b. c1851, his wife, Ellen, and their 3 children: Mary, Henry B., and Charles F., also Mary's brother Jacob CRONE Jr., age 49, and a neice Laura V. F. CRONE, age 20. Mary m. Henry SNURR in 1865, to late to be the mother of any of his children, and probably did not have any family of her own. (MDFRB7, 23, MDFR11)

Charles, Alice, and dau. Bessie B. Minor are buried at Christ Reformed, Middletown, Frederick Co. There is no death date on Charles' gravestone. Christ Reformed Church Records listed Charles Garfield CRONE, d. 17 Jun 1931, 77y 10m 8d, which indicates he was b. 9 Aug 1853.
