| Alone in the Crowd | ||||||||
| Alone in the crowd-- longing for you I miss your laughter and your sly smile-- Alone in the crowd. I walk in the rain Through dark night streets; I hear your bright voice behind closed doors louder than the rain. I threw love away Without a thought of pain at sunset; in the dark night I sent you away. Oh, where has love gone? Where is my gold, my most lovely girl? Oh, why do I sing this empty song? In each secret heart there is a black moment of blind hate, doubt before trust-- fear at each new start. In the light of day I know the past foolishness my heart played was a game-- an empty charade. | I am the clown prince of the city-- I hear your night voice as I walk streets longing for silence. Everywhere I turn I hear your laugh in my memory, each day, each night each hour it returns. There is no escape-- It is my fate to pass empty days and lonely nights without your face-- without touching you, hearing your voice, counting your sweet smiles from rose red lips-- I missed all the clues. Memories--the tears like pearls wash down my cheeks, my face streaked with to late grief-- my heart fills with fears. Alone in the crowd of broken hearts, I am the black clown, the late dreamer, Alone in the crowd. |
