Welcome To Our Scripture Study Page
Between us we have studied and/or discussed the Bible with Protestants, Catholics, Seventh
Day Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Born Again Christians, Messianic Jews, Mormons,
Muslims, and Agnostics. Neither of us has to our knowledge ever met a true atheist, but
if we had we would have discussed the Bible with them.
We both believe that all Scripture is inspired by God, the way to eternal life is revealed
in the Bible, you must pray with an honest heart for understanding, and you must compare
Scripture passages to each other to understand.
Some of our specific beliefs are:
- There is only one God, our heavenly Father. He is the only one we are to worship.
He is the only one to whom we are to pray.
- Jesus is the Christ our Lord and Savior. He died and was risen from the dead by
God so that we might have eternal life. He is our mediator with the Father, the
keeper of the Book of Life, and will present the case for each of us to the Father
on judgment day. We are to pray to God in his name.
- The Holy Spirit is sent to us to provide us with strength and understanding. It is
only through the Holy Spirit in us that we can resist the temptations of Satan.
- When you die you know nothing and remain in the grave until resurrection.
- The Sabbath is the seventh day, there is nowhere in scripture that this is changed.
It was changed to the first day by man contrary to God's will.
Some of the things that have not been made totally clear to us are:
- The divinity of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit as a separate entity from the
Father, i.e. the Holy Trinity. There are a few passages that seem to state that
Jesus is God or that God is made up of three entities, but there are many passages
that appear to contradict this.
- One creation or two. The order of creation in Genesis 1 is not the same as in
Genesis 2.
We will expand on these lists over time. We will also develop pages that discuss the
topics in the lists. We welcome emails with your comments on these topics. We only ask
that your comments be backed-up with Scripture references and not church doctrine nor
the writings of others. We would of course welcome quotes from books and articles that
are backed up by Scripture references.
When we learn more about web page development we will try to provide a direct means of
putting your comments onto this web site.
Following the teaching of our Lord and Savior Jesus and participating in group worship of God is good for your health:
Forgiving yourself and others may have healthy benefits, according to the results of a survey of 1,400 adults published in a recent issue of the Journal of Adult Development.
Study results indicated that forgiveness is associated with decreased psychological distress. This included decreased feelings of hopelessness, nervousness, and restlessness.
On the other hand, asking for forgiveness rather than granting it was found to be associated with increased psychological distress.
Another finding in this study was that attending religious services was associated with decreased psychological distress among young and middle-aged adults and increased life satisfaction among older adults. It was also associated with higher self-rated health among participants of all ages.
