Welcome To Our Hiking Page
The title of this page is a little miss leading. It should actually be
something like "Walks Through The Woods And/Or Along City Streets And/Or
Through Parks, Etc.". But then it would read like one of Ernie's stories
that never seem to end.
We really enjoy walking in the woods, fields, and even the sidewalks of
Boston. Before we were married we became involved with a Christian Singles
Fellowship and joined their hiking group. We still go on hikes with them.
These "hikes" range from climbing Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire to walking
the Freedom Trail in Boston to following the Cliff Walk in Newport, RI.
We also frequently go on hikes on our own, including two long weekends
in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
In July we took a group of Christian Singles on a camping/hiking tripe to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We camped in tepees. Some of us went on an ambitious 9 mile hike to the peak of Mt Haystack along a ridge trail across Mt Lincoln to Mt Lafayette. As we were traversing a descending portion of the ridge trail, both of Ernie's knees gave out. He was able to ascend with only a little pain, but descending was very painful. There was an Appalachian Mountain Club hut on the descending trail and Ernie spent the night there. In the morning He started down using some branches our friend Joe had cut for him as hiking poles. After about an hour Ernie met Joe who had gone out and bought some hiking poles for him. Though still painful and slow the hiking poles made the descent much better.
In October we will be going on another camping/hiking trip. This time with our friends Shave (Sharon & Dave) to Mt Monadnock in New Hampshire.
Here are some pictures we have taken on some of our hikes/walks. Since pictures can take a long time to download, they will open in another window so you can continue to browse other pages while you wait for them.
