Of course, one would not get any tax deductions by doing this. If you want to enjoy the normal tax deductions and the amount is significant (>$2,000), please contact me—I might be able to help you to arrange some US based NGO to act like financial agent: accept the donation from you and pass it to the Chinese NGO.

 

Hopefully, I can directly help you with this in the near future on a regular basis instead of case-by-case basis. I am in the process of forming a US based nonprofit ‘China Grassroots Foundation’ (CGF). Its mission is to help the Chinese local NGOs to empower the local people. It will provide technical and financial assistance to grassroots organizations in China, as well as promote collaboration between international NGOs and Chinese NGOs. CGF will mainly work in three areas:

                                                 ii.      Rural education

                                                iii.      Women’s issue
