| Di mana suara rindumu (latin jazz) This is a love song about happy times and other moments that creep in between. Like most bossa nova moods, it is about being happy and sad at the same time. In The Hills, In The Sun, With The Birds (contemporary jazz) This piece starts out peacefully but continues to build a mood and becomes more rhythmic at towards the end. Perhaps there is more meaning to the different sections when one relates it to the title.. Our Song (contemporary jazz) writen by Az A. Samad and Rozhan Razman It is a jazz waltz that Az wrote together with Rozhan (Groove Unction/Metalasia). The first section is aggresive and bulids up to the melodic second section. This song is geared more for jazz improvisation. Girl In Faded Photograph (New Age Acoustic) (solo guitar) This song is a nolstalgic reflection of the past. Memories come back when one looks into old photographs with a thousand tales within them. This is but one. Antartika (pop) (solo guitar) Az wrote this piece when he read about Malaysians reaching Antartica. It could also be a love song actually, Antartica being a metaphor... Jalan Yang Jauh (arabic/ neo classical) Here is a song with a mix of an arabic sounding riff, a classically influenced line and various short improvisations over pseudo flamenco vibes. Latah Setinggan (Funk) Az A. Samad This is a funk piece that is very much rhythmic in nature. It's kind of a conversation between the different elements in the piece. Latah Setinggan is a title of a poem written by Azs father. Although originally performed as a solo acoustic guitar piece, at the No Black TIe gig it was performed by a whole band. Do You Insult Me Waltz (Classically influenced waltz) (solo guitar) This is meant to be a piece about snobbish people. It sounds classical because it is meant to portray the higher status of these snobbish people. In another section it reflects the response of simple minded folk towards the attitude they see. In the end there is a section that represents one person's acceptance of the reality of the world that there will always be people like this. For Michael / Echoes of Bangsar (New Age Acoustic) (solo guitar) This medley is basically a tribute to one of Azs favorite guitarists, Michael Hedges. He pioneered and popularised many of the contemporary acoustic guitar techniques now commonly used such as percussive slaps, slapped harmonics and others. Echoes of Bangsar reflects the quiet side of this party hub when everything cools down and insecurities, restlessness and weird thoughts come into one's mind. The Mamak Symphony (Pop) From the varied intruding handphone rings at your local mamak stall, there might be some sense to it after all... Beep Beep... Beep Beep Waltz Ten To One (jazz waltz) Content wise, this whole song is intended to sound like it's on the verge to explode anytime, but in fact it slowly builds up until it finally does-in the end.. Boom! |
