BIOGRAPHY: Served in the Revolutionary War (age 16) as a Private in Captain Caleb Moulton's company under command of Lieutenant Eliphalet Hasting, Colonel Thomas Poor's Regiment. Enlisted June 13, 1778. Discharged February 24, 1779 - service 8 months, 22 days. Also, payroll for September 1778, dated Fort Clinton; also, payroll for December 1778, dated King's Ferry.
Served again (age 18) in a list of men raised for the 6 months service and returned by Brigadier General Pasterson as having passed muster, in a return dated Camp Totoway (NJ north of Trenton), October 25, 1780. Also, payroll for 6 months, men raised by the Town of Holliston (MA) for service in the Continental Army, during 1780; marched July 4, 1780; discharged December 4, 1780 - service 5 months and 11 days. -Source: Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War prepared and published by the Secretary of the Commonwealth in 1896
BIOGRAPHY: The diary of a soldier that served at Camp Totoway during the same period (the fall of 1780) contains references to the capture of British Adjutant General Andrie and discovery of a note in his boots revealing "Arnold's Hellish Plot" (a direct reference to General Benedict Arnold and his subsequent arrest as a traitor). There are also references to his "excellency" General Washington and a review of the troops at Camp Totoway October 26, 1780 by Gereral Washington and the Frence Ambassador.
