Basic Coins
By Attainment Company
This software program is a great way to teach basic math and functional money skills. Basic Coins has three progressively challenging segments: Name, match and purchase. This coins-only program includes the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, half-dollar and the new golden dollar coin. In the first segment, the computer names coins and gives their values. In matching, students identify the correct value from an assortment of coins. The most challenging and interactive segment of Basic Coins has students buy from a computerized vending machine. Adjustable preferences create a challenging and rewarding learning setting.

First Money
By Attainment Company
First Money is a software program that is the first step in independent money skills. Students learn that a quarter equals two dimes and a nickel, and a ten dollar bill equals two fives. Voice prompts and graphics cue users to move through these segments: Money names, equal value and what’s it worth. Each segment includes a teach (step-by-step instruction) and quiz option. Student performances are tracked during quizzes. In money names, students learn the values and names for each coin and bill. Equal value segment introduces sets of coins and bills and stresses the concept that different combinations can equal the same value. In the what’s it worth segment, students add up varying groups of money.
