The end of the 20th century has a variety of aircraft dominating the sky. There are advanced fighters which are invisible to the radar like the F-117A, which are capable of twice the speed of sound (Mach 2) and above like the Mig 29 (October 8, 1992), transport aircraft like the Boeing 747 (October 15, 1979) and Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) jump jet like the Sea Harrier (February 12, 1984). The story however does not end here. Developments are taking place in the field of aeronautics everyday. Design, development and trials of a special craft are being undertaken by NASA, USA that can return from the orbiting International Space Station. Some day they will be featured on the Indian Stamps. |

The story of flight is the story
of Mans power to dream and to make his dreams come
true. It is a story of his ambition, his perseverance,
his failures, dejection and finally his triumph. The
Indian Stamps bear a silent witness to this saga of
Mans triumph over Nature. |
