What exactly are we doing? Well, there are a NUMBER of different projects that pop up on our agendas! In the past, we've volunteered at C.O.S.I. in Downtown Columbus, cooked dinners at the Ronald McDonald House, volunteered at the Capital Area Humane Society, and many, many more projects. One project that has been kept as a weekly event is going out to Turning Point, which is a day care/orphanage facility on 3rd right here in Columbus, very close to the campus. We go there to relieve the workers from having to watch closely over the children, though they are always still there in the room, and we play with the children and keep them company. They are such loving children, most of them being there for many, many hours during the day. They are incredibly excited to see us every week and want you to sing, dance, and read with them! Anything a child can think of under the sun they want to do. It is such a wonderful experience to get to work with them, and the workers there are very appreciative of our visits because as anyone may know, it is certainly hard to be with the same group of children for an entire day without things getting a litle hairy. We travel out to Turning Point on Thursday evenings, arriving there by 6:15p.m. We meet outside the Ohio Union, in the front by the doors closest to the parking garage, at 5:45p.m. As stated above, we also do many other service projects as well. Week by week we get new ideas from our service chairperson and schedule the most convenient dates for the events. By attending our weekly meetings, you will be able to find out when and where all these wonderful service projects will be taking place. |
