Rick Arrington is Dakota's maternal grandfather. He played quarterback on the football team at the University of Georgia, then transferred to Tulsa University. Later on, he played in the NFL for the Philadelphia Eagles. He married Dakota's grandmother, Mary Jane, and they raised two daughters in Georgia.
