| The Global Cup tournament will begin on Week 5 of the EPL season and will conclude in a Cup Final on week 20. Round One Groups, Schedules, and Results Round Two Groups, Schedules, and Results Round of 16, Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, Finals - Results (See Below) Note - Any scoring changes that take place during head to head cup competitions will be used only if they are made before the Yahoo deadline for the following week's rosters. Changes made after the deadline can not be used to change the outcome of a match. This rule applies throughout the competition, including first leg scores of two leg aggregate matchups. Round One - Regional Qualification - Weeks 5, 6, & 10 Consists of group play to determine the top teams from two regions who will advance to the Second Round. Seeding for Round One will be based on Yahoo point standings at the end of week 4. England region - 6 teams The top 2 England teams in Yahoo points at the end of week 4 will receive automatic berths in the Second Round (byes) and will not participate in Round One. The remaining 4 England teams will be placed into a group of 4. Every team will play its three group opponents once on a round-robin basis during EPL weeks 5, 6, & 10. The schedules for Round One will be available here on September 10th. A Win will be worth 3 points in the group standings, while a Tie will be worth 1 point, and a Loss worth 0 points in the standings. The Top 3 teams from the group will advance to the Second Round. In cases where there is a tie in standings points, total Yahoo points scored during Round One will be used to break the tie. In all, 5 England teams will advance to the Second Round. World region - 44 teams The 44 World teams will be drawn into 11 groups of 4. Teams will be drawn from 4 pools based upon Yahoo point rank between all "World" teams at the end of week 4. Pool 1: teams ranked 1 through 11 Pool 2: 12 - 22 Pool 3: 23 - 33 Pool 4: 34 - 44 Each of the 11 qualifying groups will consist of one team from each pool. The draw will take place on September 10th, and the resulting groups will be published on this web site. Every team will play its three group opponents once on a round-robin basis during EPL weeks 5, 6, & 10. The schedules for Round One will also be available here on September 10th. A Win will be worth 3 points in the group standings, while a Tie will be worth 1 point, and a Loss worth 0 points in the standings. The Top 2 teams from each group will advance to the Second Round. In addition, 5 third place teams with the most standings points will advance to the Second Round. In cases where there is a tie in standings points, total Yahoo points scored during Round One will be used to break the tie. In all, 27 Rest of the World teams will advance to the Second Round. Round Two - International Group Play - Weeks 11, 12, & 13 Consists of group play to determine the top 16 teams who will advance to the Third Round. The remaining 32 teams (5 England, 27 World) will be drawn up into 8 groups of 4. These groups will be labeled alphabetically Group A through Group H. Each of the 8 groups will consist of one team from each of the following 4 pools. Pool 1: The 2 teams who received first round byes, the winner of the England Qualifying Group, and the top 5 World group winners based upon standings points. If there is a tie in standings points, Total Yahoo points scored during Round One will be used to break the tie. Pool 2: The remaining 6 World group winners, the second place team from the England Qualifying Group, and the top second place team from the World groups based upon standings points. If there is a tie in standings points, Total Yahoo points scored during Round One will be used to break the tie. Pool 3: The next 8 best second place World teams based upon standings points. If there is a tie in standings points, Total Yahoo points scored during Round One will be used to break the tie. Pool 4: The remaining teams (2 second place, 6 third place). The draw for Round Two will take place on October 30th and the resulting groups will be published on this web site. Every team will play its three group opponents once on a round-robin basis during EPL weeks 11, 12, & 13. The schedules for Round Two will also be available here on October 30th. Round Three (Round of 16) - Weeks 14 & 15 - Paired teams will play each other twice. The team with the higher aggregate score during those 2 weeks will advance. In the event of a tie, the team with the higher total Yahoo points for the season will advance. (Remember that these totals reflect scores taken at each deadline. Corrections for the first leg made after the first deadline will not be counted.) The team with the higher aggregate score during those 2 weeks will advance. In the event of a tie, the team with the higher total Yahoo points for the season will advance. The Commissioner will make a ruling depending on the conditions at the time. If the FA postpone EPL games so that those games are no longer played in the same fantasy week, AND if the number of postponed games is 50% or greater of the total number of games scheduled for that week, AND if the total number of actual games played is less than 6, THEN the Cup matches for that week will be postponed. The Commissioner will make a ruling with regards to rescheduling the Cup matches depending on the conditions at the time. |
