| In my life I have been passionate about many things but let me introduce you to my main passion...MOUNTED MIRACLES. Mounted Miracles is a non-profit Center that provides an alternative form of therapy for persons with disabilities...Equestrian Therapy. Not only is this form of therapy beneficial, it is also FUN! The staff is strictly volunteer but dedicated. My passion for horses and children has opened the door to an opportunity that now fills my life with meaning and purpose. I truly believe it was "ordained" that I be involved with Mounted Miracles. For nearly a year, articles about Equestrian Therapy seemed to be in every magazine I read...peaking my interest until the day I noticed on the local IGA bulletin board a brochure for an Equestrian Therapy Center...Mounted Miracles (to this day no one knows how it got there). | Another passion of mine is to write poetry and short stories. When I first started at Mounted Miracles my heart was overwhelmed with what I was experiencing. Whenever this has occured in my life, it has always prompted a poem or short story...this was no exception! From within my heart a story began to emerge...first came a picture and then the words. It is a short story with a different ending but that isn't all! I wrote the story for my own pleasure and the "need" to do so...as though compelled! I named it "Jenny's World: A Field of Dreams". Nearly a year later, while searching for information at NARHA, I happened upon an Equestrian Therapy Center and was so stunned I could barely breathe...it's name?... "Jennifer Steensen, Field of Dreams"!! (you can check out the 'real' Jennifer) Yes, I contacted them and now share email with Jenny's mom, Merle. But it doesn't end there! You see, Jenny's grandmother's name is 'Betty' and she was the only one that called Jennifer, "Jenny". There were several such "coincidences"...enough to make me tremor inside and I truly believe there was an 'angel' that compelled me to write the story...maybe Jenny? |
| Enter "Jenny's World" (my short story) and read what I believe to be an 'inspiration'...just click on the picture (story illustrations are my untrained attempts to sketch 'visual' interpretation...they are images I 'saw' prior to 'receiving' the words.) |
