I guess what I'm saying is that if you feel so inclined to interview a band (or comic book person) and write a story for no pay, we may have a spot for ya.
HOWEVER - we do like certain styles better than others, and we do have certain criteria we want met within the piece. For example:
-We like humor and sarcasm, but we don't want to drown in it.
-We do not want pieces that reference politics or religion in anyway - unless it is very general or historical.
-We place much value on pop-culture cross-over (such as musicians who are into comics & sequential artists who like good music) and expect every piece to do this.
-We also are interested in stories with a sense of history and culture.
-It's pointless to do an interview with a band (or a writer or artist) for this magazine unless it's cleared by me (Daisy). We have a waiting list of bands to do stories on and unless it's something exceptional, it won't get printed.
-We like an aggressive tone and attitude, but we do not bash creative works or individuals. I don�t believe in giving press to shit work - it�s still a free ad for them.
-We don�t wanna know who their influences are.
-We don�t use slang that is inappropriate to our ethnicity.
-We do enjoy a liberal use of slang, as long as it�s done by someone who passed 8th grade.
-Contractions are fine, but words misspelled purposefully for effect may or may not be edited depending on their context.
