Up to the age of about two years Bull Terriers tend to be very active. I feel they need to be with active families that will give them lots of attention and exercise. If they are restricted they can become destructive. They do get bored so be ready to play with them and give them lots of attention.
AS PETS
Bullies are very family orientated. They need lots of attention and love to be around people. All my dogs live inside the home and I wouldn't have it any other way. Many keep them in kennels but i feel they need people. They love to play and i give them hard rubber toys and balls. You must remember that bullies chew and swallow things so keep your eyes open and watch what they play with. Bullies are very protective of their owners and make good guard dogs but they can become too possessive at times. It is very important to keep an eye on this as they can get a little head strong. They are good with children and other adults when they are handled with discipline and common sense on part of the owner. If a dog has not been raised with children then it may not be tolerant of them. My dogs mix with people of all ages from a very young age inside and outside the home. I feel this helps to give them a better temperament and they don't have a fear of strangers. As it is a frightened dog that will bite.
BARKING
Bullies don't bark often. If your bullie is barking then there is a reason for it. They do grunt and grumble. You need to learn the difference between a growl and a grumble. Many bullies love to talk and grumbling is their way of talking. They love to join in on a conversation.
LIFE SPAN
Bullies live to about ten years old. With good care, nutrition and exercise they have been known to live a lot longer even to sixteen years.
BREEDING
There are people who think you can get rich from breeding bullies, well this will NOT happen. Breeding can result in the death of the mother and the puppies.
TRAINING
Bullies need training from an early age, as they tend not to listen when they feel that way. You need to form a good bond with your bullie, as this is the first step. The bullie will probably want to dominate you but it is important that you correct such behaviour immediately. You will need a lot of patients, as they can be stubborn.
