It's the classic story of braun over brains. In commerce, the modern world favours aggression, a characteristic symptomatic of the stupid, over humanity and considerativity, characteristics symptomatic of the intelligent. In education, modern exams favour those better suited to short-term enthusiasm, aggression, competitiveness and logic. Beauty and creativity will one day be things of the past. A 2001 poll showed that 72% of A - A* grade GCSE students in England and Wales said their goal in life was to be rich, as opposed to 69% of C - E grade students who said their goal in life was to be happy. It seems that the type of person this planet prides itself on, is not getting into higher education. This is a great worry for the world's political powers who foresee a future of brutal eliteism and poverty for those not greedy enough to survive. The message to parents is "Teach your children to be robots and machines and they will be successful, but if you want your children to be good people, you can expect a life of dead-end jobs and insignificance for them." Daisyhut calls for a great reshape in education so that exams no longer favour those with a warped sense of life. |
