- Angst: Stories featuring mental and/or physical torture, depression and general negative feelings.
- AU: Alternative Universe; it means they aren't what they really are. For example, Charlie Conway isn't a Duck or a hockey player at all. He could work in the fashion business or manage a discount store.
- Crossover: A story featuring characters interatction from different fandoms.
- Lemon: A story that features sex, generally quite graphic.
- Mary Sue: A fictional character or O.C who occasionally reflects the author. She is usually pefect. Perfect body, perfect family, a million talents, adored by all. Generally hated by fan fiction readers.
- NCS: 'Non Consensual Sex'. Rape
- Parody: A mocking of a story or situation.
- POV: 'Point Of View'. The story is done in first person, meaning you see the story through one person's (main character's) eyes.
- PWP: 'Plot? What Plot?' Bed-romping, pure and simple. Also known as 'Porn Without Plot', basically meaning a short story where two people fuck their brains out.
- Rape: Just what it says. Depending on how graphic the scene is, it can be found in both open access and restricted access.
- Sadfic: A sad story, occasionally containing a death. In some cases, you'll need a big box of Kleenex just to finish reading it.
- Sap: Sweet stories, often cute, romantic tales that often cause tooth decay.
- Songfic: A story featuring or focusing on a particular song.
- Slash: Same sex fiction, meaning the characters are gay. Very popular in the Ducks fandom *coughChAdamBashSlashcough*
- WIP: 'Work In Progress' and means the story is not finished.
